Minnesota<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Golden Gophers were last in the Big Ten in points scored per game and yards per game on offense in 2009. Losing Eric Decker is bound to hurt their production, and the team\u2019s weakness at running back is amazing for a Big Ten squad. This is not a team that can simply line up and run it down your throat.<\/p>\n

The Golden Gophers defense is decent, especially in the front seven. The secondary is extremely inexperienced and could prove to be a problem against teams that have prolific passing games. The defense will probably be counted on to keep this team in the game because of the inconsistent offense.<\/p>\n

Tim Brewster was considered a great hire after he appeared to be turning the Golden Gophers into formidable opponent just two years ago, but the times have changed quickly. Brewster is starting to receive some heat, because at this point the program has taken steps backward from the time Glen Mason was let go.<\/p>\n

Adam Weber has started at quarterback since his freshman year and he should know the offense well, but his numbers have actually gotten worse. MarQueis Gray is a highly touted recruit who may see the field more this year if Weber doesn\u2019t help the offense put up some more points. <\/p>\n

Middle Tennessee State<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rick Stockstill has done a great job building up this Middle Tennessee State team. The Blue Raiders have finished near the top of the conference in both of the last two years, but they just haven\u2019t been able to beat the Troy Trojans. They\u2019ll get a chance at home this year, and many consider MTSU the favorite in the Sun Belt Conference. <\/strong><\/span>\"College<\/a><\/p>\n

Just a couple of days ago the entire complexion of this team and this matchup changed drastically. Dwight Dasher, the Blue Raiders quarterback and best player, was suspended for accepting benefits that violate NCAA rules. The Blue Raiders have no idea how long Dasher will be gone and they have written a letter to the NCAA to try to get him reinstated, but it appears they will be without his services for a little while.<\/p>\n

The Blue Raiders must settle on a new starting quarterback for the game Thursday night. It appears Logan Kilgore will get the first look. No doubt, the Blue Raiders will be hurting without Dasher, but they are still a solid team.<\/p>\n

Middle Tennessee State has a great offensive line and a secondary that should make throwing on them very difficult. The wide receivers are raw, but they do have quite a bit of talent.<\/p>\n

This is a huge game for the Blue Raiders and the entire Sun Belt Conference. On the opening night of the college football season a Sun Belt team has a legitimate shot to take down a Big Ten opponent. Can they do it without their leader?<\/p>\n
