Safety Tracy Wilson is a powerhouse at safety; he loves to throw himself into the middle to stop the run and actually led the Huskies in tackles with 93 last season. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n It does hurt that Northern Illinois lost its other big playmaker, defensive end Jake Coffman, but the Huskies have plenty of other solid contributors on \u201cD.\u201d <\/p>\n Offensively, the Huskies aren\u2019t an elite squad, but there\u2019s a chance they could become one at least in the MAC this season. Senior halfback Chad Spann is a dynamic player; he averaged 5.8 yards per carry last season en route to 1,038 yards and 19 touchdowns. If quarterback Chandler Harnish can elevate his play, Northern Illinois could become unstoppable in the MAC. <\/p>\n He suffered a major knee injury last season but was reasonably effective when he did play, tossing 11 touchdown passes versus six picks. <\/p>\n Team Weaknesses: <\/strong><\/p>\n The Huskies don\u2019t have many glaring weaknesses. Ultimately, everything comes down to Harnish\u2019s health. He\u2019s nowhere near a safe bet to play every game and if his knee implodes, opposing defenses will stack the box against Spann and shut down the Huskies\u2019 offense. <\/p>\n Harnish also may not have an elite receiving option this season. Landon Cox has the physical tools but hasn\u2019t put it all together yet. <\/p>\n Northern Illinois 2010-2011 Football Predictions: <\/strong>9-4<\/p>\n A bold prediction indeed. But I see so much upside with this team.
