Race<\/strong>: IRWIN Tools Night Race – Bristol Motor Speedway Around the track Friday, drivers complained that the tire was not what they were used to at Bristol and that the tire\/track combination was making for very slick conditions.<\/p>\n Matt Kenseth: “This tire has at least thrown us for a little bit of a loop, so I think the racing is going to be a little bit different than it has been in the past with this tire.” <\/p>\n Jeff Burton: “It seemed like a lot of people were fairly free with the tire \u2026 a lot of it depends on how your car is handling. I saw a lot of people that looked like they were struggling to make rear grip and the tire and the heat have to be an influence on that.” <\/p>\n Tony Stewart: “Goodyear brought a different tire here and I think a lot of us are kind of scrambling around trying to figure out — what we had here in the spring, I don’t think is what this tire likes. <\/p>\n We’re all kind of thrashing around trying to figure it out.” Of course, all of the on-track activities have been during the daylight, while the race itself will be under the lights at night. <\/p>\n On the plus side, drivers have indicated that there are more grooves here than normal, meaning more options for passing. <\/p>\n Safe Bets:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Jimmie Johnson (4\/1):<\/strong> Johnson won here in the spring and qualified for the pole for this race. He’s bringing three straight top-10 Bristol finishes into Saturday night’s race, including a 3rd in the spring of 2009. Johnson finished 8th in this race last year. 2. Tony Stewart (10\/1):<\/strong> Stewart will start Saturday’s race on the outside of Row 2 and had the 5th-fastest ten-lap average speed in Happy Hour. He won at Bristol in 2001 and finished 2nd here in the spring race.<\/p>\n Dark Horse:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Jamie McMurray (30\/1):<\/strong> BHe has rather long odds, but Jamie Mac finished 8th here in the spring and qualified 7th for Saturday’s race. Prior to that, his best finish was a 3rd in 2003.
