Todd Dodge has been a big disappointment at North Texas thus far, going 5-31 in his three years as coach of the Mean Green. The team has had numerous injury problems that have held them back, but at some point they will have to start winning more games to get their fans to believe once again.<\/p>\n

Could this year be the year they actually get things going?<\/p>\n

Most experts have picked this team to fare much better than they have the last couple of years, but I do believe the Mean Green will finally start to rise in the standings in 2010. Remember, this team was a powerhouse a few years ago. <\/p>\n

I believe they still have the potential to get back to that point, but they have to take steps one at a time. <\/p>\n

Team Strengths:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lance Dunbar is a terrific running back that will headline an impressive ground game for North Texas. The offensive line has four starters returning, and they will be one of the best in the Sun Belt conference. Expect Dunbar to have plenty of holes to run through in 2010.<\/p>\n

\"Sports<\/p>\n

The wide receivers are deep and talented. North Texas will run a whole lot of four wide receiver sets, and this is a team that will have no problems running four guys onto the field that will be able to get open and move the chains. Jamaal Jackson is one of the best in the Sun Belt at this spot.<\/p>\n

The safeties are a big area of strength for North Texas. DaWaylon Cook is a great tackler and he provides a tough back line of the defense for this team. <\/p>\n

Team Weaknesses: <\/strong><\/p>\n

The defensive line is big and strong, but they haven\u2019t been productive at all in the last couple years. The Mean Green are horrific against the run and virtually never get any pressure on the quarterback. This puts a ton of pressure on the cornerbacks.<\/p>\n

The quarterback position is the biggest question mark on offense. Riley Dodge has moved to receiver because of injury problems, and this team needs someone to consistently run their offense. The pieces around them are ready for a nice run, but they need an efficient quarterback.<\/p>\n

The cornerbacks are fairly inexperienced, and that could prove to be a real problem. Though the safeties behind them are strong, they\u2019ll need to help in run defense for this team. The corners must do a solid job in man coverage.<\/p>\n

North Texas 2010-2011 Football Predictions: <\/strong>9-4<\/p>\n

I think North Texas will take a pretty large step forward this year. The talent on this team is just too good to only win one or two games this season. The team\u2019s schedule isn\u2019t that difficult, especially at the beginning of the year. If a quarterback steps up and leads the offense, this will be one of the best offenses in the league. <\/p>\n

The defense won\u2019t be great, but it will be improved.<\/p>\n

I think they have a good shot at getting to the postseason with six wins. <\/p>\n
