2010 NCAA Football Predictions – Teams | Analysis | Previews Online<\/h3>\n

WAC Conference Football Previews: New Mexico St. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\n2009 Record: <\/strong>3-10 <\/p>\n

DeWayne Walker finished his first season as coach of the Aggies with a 3-10 record, and he definitely has his work cut out for him if he expects this team to become a contender anytime soon in the WAC. The weaknesses of this team are abundant, and they simply don\u2019t have the talent to compete with hardly anyone on their schedule.<\/p>\n

The team had an easy schedule in 2009, which allowed them to get some wins, but those wins will be even harder to come by in 2010. The running game isn\u2019t bad, but they\u2019ll need some balance on offense. <\/p>\n

The defense might be better, but they will have a tough time keeping most of the teams on their schedule off the scoreboard. <\/p>\n

Team Strengths:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The entire defensive secondary returns, which should mean this team will be decent against the pass. In the WAC, where passing defense is the key, New Mexico State will be fairly solid.<\/p>\n

\"Sports<\/p>\n

The running game is an area of strength for the Aggies as Seth Smith and a strong offensive line make the ground game work quite effectively. The line will probably be a little better in 2010, since they added a nice talent in Aundre McGaskey at right tackle. <\/p>\n

Team Weaknesses: <\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the type of team where it is tough to know where to start when listing the weaknesses and question marks, because there are a ton of them!<\/p>\n

The quarterback position is a huge problem. Jeff Fleming will likely be the starter again, but he threw three times as many interceptions as he did touchdowns in 2009. He must improve his decision making for this team to be competitive.<\/p>\n

The wide receiver spot is another huge concern, since there is no depth at all here. The Aggies simply don\u2019t have many guys that can consistently get open and move the chains. Needless to say, the passing game will be terrible in 2010.<\/p>\n

All three of the linebackers are gone from the 2009 squad, and among the three they accounted for 249 tackles. This defensive line is decent, but the linebackers will likely be a huge weakness for the team. <\/p>\n

New Mexico St. 2010-2011 Football Predictions: <\/strong>2-10<\/p>\n

This New Mexico State team will have trouble winning against anyone on their schedule, but I\u2019ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they get to two wins. The offense will be one of the worst in the country again, and the rushing defense will be extremely bad. <\/p>\n

Walker may yet turn this program around, but he is going to need quite a bit of time, because the talent just isn\u2019t there to do it right now. <\/p>\n
