It wasn\u2019t the most eventful sports weekend but there were a few standout performances \u2013 both good and bad \u2013 worth discussing.<\/p>\n
PGA news: Tiger posts worst 72-hole score of his career<\/strong><\/p>\n The biggest question we have to ask ourselves after Tiger Woods\u2019 struggles at the WGC-Bridgestone last weekend is whether or not the struggles even qualify as news anymore. They\u2019re becoming more trend than anomaly.<\/p>\n Tiger finished 18-over at a tournament he\u2019d won\u00a0seven <\/em>times before. He remains winless in 2010 and in grave danger of losing his World No. 1 ranking for the first time in five years. Is Tiger done? Hardly. But I do think he\u2019s done in 2010.<\/p>\n NFL news: Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith inducted into Hall of Fame<\/strong> The wait is over for two statistical champions at different positions. Jerry Rice, the NFL\u2019s all-time receiving leader, and NFL rushing king Emmitt Smith were both inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton over the weekend.<\/p>\n Some people make a case that Rice is the greatest football player of all time. In addition to receiving yards, he leads all NFLers in receptions and touchdowns for a career. He made 13 Pro Bowls and won three Super Bowls with the 49ers dynasty.<\/p>\n Emmitt, proud owner of 11 1,000-yard rushing seasons, won three Super Bowls of his own with the Dallas Cowboys dynasty in the 1990s. Congrats, fellas.<\/p>\n MLB news: Brandon Morrow strikes out 17, barely misses no-hit bid<\/strong><\/p>\n Toronto\u2019s Brandon Morrow came within a single out of becoming the sixth pitcher to toss a no-hitter in 2010. It\u2019s a shame that Aaron Hill couldn\u2019t scoop Evan Longoria\u2019s grounder on what would\u2019ve been the final out, as Morrow\u2019s performance yesterday may have been the best we\u2019ve seen from a pitcher this year. <\/p>\n Morrow struck out 17 Tampa Bay Rays in his one-hit, complete-game shutout.<\/p>\n NHL news: Selanne returning to Anaheim; Kariya to follow<\/strong><\/p>\n Though there were rumors of Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya becoming Sidney Crosby\u2019s next linemates, it appears now that the buddies are returning to their old stomping grounds in Anaheim.<\/p>\n Selanne is the much safer bet. The Finnish Flash is reportedly re-signing with the Ducks for \u201cat least one more year.\u201d It\u2019s still unknown if Kariya will join him but Selanne will almost certainly try to convince him.<\/p>\n UFC news: Anderson Silva pulls off a comeback for the ages, retains belt<\/strong><\/p>\n No one knew if the Anderson Silva\/Chael Sonnen UFC middleweight championship fight could live up to all the hype. Sonnen talked and talked and talked but no one knew if he\u2019d back it up.<\/p>\n He did in a big way on Saturday. He outstruck and outhustled Anderson Silva before repeatedly taking him down and bullying the champ for four straight rounds. Sonnen entered the last round pitching a shutout; Silva\u2019s only chance to retain his title was to score a knockout or submission.<\/p>\n And, somehow, Silva did it.
