Monday night\u2019s American League East battle has several storylines going for it. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

First off, there\u2019s the basic Yankees\/Jays rivalry, not the division\u2019s biggest but certainly a storied one. Then there\u2019s A.J. Burnett, a man now hated among Blue Jays fans. Lastly, there\u2019s the overall pitching matchup. Brandon Morrow\u2019s strengths and weaknesses are remarkably similar to Burnett\u2019s, so this is almost a mirror match.<\/p>\n

Morrow\u2019s numbers are fairly pedestrian on paper but he\u2019s been a much more effective pitcher since the start of June. He\u2019s also 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 13 innings since the All-Star break. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s been one of baseball\u2019s top strikeout guys this season, whiffing 125 batters in 113 innings.<\/p>\n

But Morrow carries some demons with him into the Bronx tonight. He\u2019s been terrible on the road in 2010, going 1-5 with a 6.23 ERA. He visited Yankee Stadium last month and got roughed up for five runs and nine hits over six innings.<\/p>\n

After getting absolutely lit up in June, A.J. Burnett has settled down. <\/p>\n

He went 3-1 with a 2.00 ERA in five July starts. Hs home ERA is also more than two runs lower than his road ERA. Even though he\u2019s had the odd bad start against Toronto, those outings usually come\u00a0in <\/em>Toronto with fans jeering him. <\/p>\n

He should be fine at home tonight.<\/p>\n
