That comes as no surprise considering that they have 15 starters returning and that Christian Ponder is primed to have a big senior season at quarterback. New head coach Jimbo Fisher has to be happy with his offensive weapons \u2013 a veteran line, Ponder, Jermaine Thomas at halfback and a lot more \u2013 but what about FSU\u2019s defense? It has to hope the secondary can soldier on without Patrick Robinson.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Miami Hurricanes <\/strong>join FSU with\u00a0+250 <\/strong>odds. Their defense looks to be ferocious and will keep them in almost every game.<\/p>\n If the offense can keep pace and quarterback Jacory Harris can build on the promise he showed in 2010, we could see an all-Florida conference championship game this season.<\/p>\n Virginia Tech (+400) <\/strong>can\u2019t be counted out either. It had lofty expectations in 2009 and, while it fell short, it impressed down the stretch, winning its last five games and routing Tennessee in the Chick-fil-A-Bowl.<\/p>\n Star running back Ryan Williams and the Hokies\u2019 offense should be outstanding again this year but VT\u2019s defense will be a huge question mark as it returns just three starters.<\/p>\n Is it weird to see\u00a0North Carolina (+500) <\/strong>near the top of a conference contender list that isn\u2019t basketball-related? The truth is that the Tar Heels may actually have something special growing in their football program. Their defense could be the conference\u2019s best and they return a ridiculous 18 starters overall (nine offensive, nine defensive) so 2010 is a make-or-break year for UNC. What about Boston College (+800)?<\/strong> The Eagles were 8-5 last year and should get a big senior season in the backfield from Montel Harris; they also have a fairly favourable schedule and were 19th<\/sup> in the country in scoring defense last year.<\/p>\n Clemson (+800) <\/strong>has equal odds to Boston College but its season has huge boom\/bust potential because quarterback Kyle Parker was just taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 MLB draft.<\/p>\n He had 20 touchdown passes and just 12 interceptions as a freshman last season, so losing him to another sport would devastate the Tigers.<\/p>\n Georgia Tech (+1000) <\/strong>lost some huge contributors to the NFL in Derrick Morgan and Jonathan Dwyer this offseason. Sure, we all love the multiple-option offense but the Yellow Jackets still don\u2019t defend well enough, so they could disappoint.<\/p>\n The ACC is a strange conference in that, while it has plenty of good teams, they\u2019re almost all incomplete, strong in offense or defense but not both. The one exception to that rule could be Miami.
