The outcome of this game will echo through the group and set the tone for future matches, while relieving pressure on the winning side. This will be the two sides’ first meeting at a World Cup.<\/p>\n The Dutch are known for being a solid team and played well in EURO 2008.<\/p>\n Despite its individual strengths, the squad recognizes their group as a whole to be strong and don\u2019t underestimate their opponents. That may serve to be their strategic advantage as they will not be overconfident or taken by surprise. Van Marwijk has established an outstanding record thus far and believes in a solid relationship with all his team members. He lost a number of key players this time around, but has been able to create a strong foundation with Dutch wizard Wesley Snejder, Rafael van der Vaart, Arjen Robben (injury permitting), and Golden Boot contender Robin van Persie, while still utilizing a 4-2-3-1 formation.<\/p>\n Their weakness is a tendency to break under pressure, so expect them to go far but not to the very top where the pressure might prove once again to be the Netherlands kryptonite.<\/p>\n Though Denmark was one of FIFA\u2019s founding members, it took until 1986 before the Danes would actually reach a World Cup final. This time the Danes luckily have what some call a weak draw, and this raises expectations of the team progressing to the knockout rounds. They were excellent in qualifying, forcing Portugal to a playoff.<\/p>\n They have had the taste of success before, specifically in Mexico 1986, and having won the 1992 UEFA European Crown. Morton Olsen is known for running a disciplined and hard working side, led by captain Jon Dahl Tomasson, and the midfield trio of Daniel Jensen, Christian Poulsen and Dennis Rommedahl.<\/p>\n The real difference maker may be Nicklas Bendtner, who could be problematic for the Netherlands defense.<\/p>\n This game could well be there for the taking for the Dutch team, with little to suggest Denmark will upset them.<\/p>\n Holland will need to win this game to prove themselves worthy of their place among the very favorites.<\/p>\n
