MLB Power Rankings (as of 28\/05\/2010)<\/h2>\n

No significant changes to the power rankings since we last checked in \u2013 though a few pesky surprise teams just won\u2019t go away.<\/p>\n

(Last week\u2019s rankings in brackets)<\/p>\n

1. (1) Tampa Bay Rays (32-14): <\/strong>Two straight losses to Boston mean they could lose No. 1 spot by next week if they don\u2019t right the ship.<\/p>\n

2. (2) Los Angeles Dodgers (25-20): <\/strong>Also holding their spot since none of the top teams went on a run last week.<\/p>\n

3. (9) San Diego Padres (27-18): <\/strong>Don\u2019t worry \u2013 they won\u2019t stay ahead of the Yankees \u2013 but they\u2019re playing better ball at this exact moment.<\/p>\n

4. (3) New York Yankees (26-18): <\/strong>With A.J. Burnett back to Earth of late, two fifths or their rotation is suddenly struggling.<\/p>\n

5. (5) Toronto Blue Jays (27-21): <\/strong>I can\u2019t imagine how bad the crash will be when it finally comes. Last year, it came in the form of a nine-game losing streak.<\/p>\n

6. (14) Boston Red Sox (26-21): <\/strong>Probably baseball\u2019s hottest team right now \u2013 but they desperately need more consistent pitching. At least Clay Buchholz looks like he\u2019s here to stay.<\/p>\n

7. (4) Philadelphia Phillies (26-18): <\/strong>Are they leaning too hard on Roy Halladay? Doc is running up the highest pitch counts of his career.<\/p>\n

8. (6) Minnesota Twins (26-18): <\/strong>Maybe Morneau and Mauer will trade MVP awards back and forth for the next decade.<\/p>\n

9. (7) Cincinnati Reds (26-20): <\/strong>Holding strong atop the NL Central \u2013 maybe because Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday aren\u2019t at the top of their games?<\/p>\n

10. (8) St. Louis Cardinals (26-20): <\/strong>Should we worry about Pujols and Tony La Russa squabbling? No yet.<\/p>\n

11. (11) Texas Rangers (26-20): <\/strong>Looks like they\u2019ll repeat last season\u2019s performance \u2013 but with a much better chance to win the division this time around. <\/strong><\/span>\"\"<\/p>\n

12. (10) Detroit Tigers (25-20): <\/strong>They have to hope Max Scherzer sorts himself out and returns to the bigs soon; if he regains his form, the Tigers can still make noise in the AL Central.<\/p>\n

13. (20) Colorado Rockies (23-22): <\/strong>Something tells me their three-game winning streak is more than just a little surge. They could build on this.<\/p>\n

14. (13) Atlanta Braves (23-22): <\/strong>Seeing Jason Heyward totally deliver on his promise through two months is fun stuff.<\/p>\n

15. (12) San Francisco Giants (23-21): <\/strong>Went 24 innings without scoring a run during their recent five-game skid. That tells you all you need to know.<\/p>\n

16.\u00a0 (15) Florida Marlins (24-22): <\/strong>Is it time to acknowledge Josh Johnson as one of the game\u2019s top 10 pitchers?<\/p>\n

17. (19) New York Mets (23-23): <\/strong>Winning the Subway Series was a big morale booster. But do they have the pitching to keep the momentum going?<\/p>\n

18. (16) Chicago Cubs (22-24): <\/strong>now that Kosuke Fukudome has started his post-April swoon, Aramis Ramirez needs to get healthy \u2013 and good \u2013 in a hurry.<\/p>\n

19. (22) Oakland Athletics (23-23): <\/strong>Good on them for staying in the AL West race while Brett Anderson was injured.<\/p>\n

20. (18) Los Angeles Angels (22-26): <\/strong>The bats are heating up \u2013 especially Mike Napoli\u2019s \u2013 so it\u2019s too early to count them out.<\/p>\n
