Canadiens vs. Flyers Preview <\/strong><\/p>\nThe Montreal Canadiens did not show up in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against Philadelphia on Sunday. They were totally outclassed by the Flyers. Was it a case of the clock finally striking midnight? Was it a case of the Habs not being able to handle the size of the Flyers? Na \u2013 Montreal has had a recent history of bad Game 1\u2019s. <\/p>\n
The Habs should bounce back and make this a great series. <\/p>\n
The Montreal Canadiens have gotten this far, not because of an abundance of talent, but rather because they have played disciplined hockey and have followed a game plan to perfection. In Game 1 there was no discipline, no sense of urgency and an obvious lack of a game plan. <\/p>\n
The Canadiens offense was out of sync. Playoff goal scoring leader Mike Cammalleri only registered one shot on goal while other offensive standout Brian Gionta could do no better. <\/p>\n
The Habs generated 28 shots on Michael Leighton but never seemed to put the Flyers in any sort of danger. <\/p>\n
The defense really let the Canadiens down in Game 1 and did not allow the offense to really get going. Hal Gill and Roman Hamrlik were both minus two on the night and PK Subban was a miserable minus three. The defense allowed the Flyers to crash the net and establish position in front in the Habs goal. <\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Flyers are on a role. They have won five straight games overall and are 5-1 in their last six home games. The Flyers are as hot as they have been all season despite being without scoring leader Jeff Carter and emotional leader Ian Laperriere. <\/p>\n
Five different Flyers recoded a goal and an assist in Game 1 and Mike Richards was not one of them! Neither was Simon Gagne! <\/p>\n
It is a testament to Philadelphia\u2019s depth, Peter Laviolette\u2019s coaching and the obvious care that the team has for one another. <\/p>\n
Michael Leighton has a 106 minute shutout streak? It\u2019s true! He has had one bad period in the last 2 \u00bd games in which he gave up three goals. The other 7 \u00bd periods he has given up just one goal. <\/p>\n
The wheels have to fall off sometime don\u2019t they? <\/p>\n
The Montreal Canadiens hope that they got their bad game out of the way early in this round. <\/p>\n
They are going to have to find a way to deal with Philadelphia\u2019s size and willingness to go to those \u201cdirty areas\u201d on the ice. Count on Coach Jacques Martin having something in mind and believe that Jaroslav Halak will be better in the next game. <\/p>\n
