The English have something to prove and although the United States may prove to be a tough test for the English, count on them winning the Group. After that, who knows? If they gel in the Group stage, the English could go all the way this year!<\/p>\n

The United States proved in last year\u2019s Confederation Cup that they are a team to be reckoned with. They beat World #1 Spain and nearly pulled off an upset in the final against Brazil<\/p>\n

The US squad will be looking to erase a disappointing 2006 performance and at least equal their 2002 quarter final accomplishment. This is a sneaky side that could surprise in the Group stage.<\/p>\n

USA World Cup Predictions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Second place is guaranteed with first not out of the question. England\u2019s performance will have a lot to do with the Americans Round of 16 opponents.<\/p>\n

Slovenia (FIFA Ranking – 23)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Slovenia \u2013 Odds To Win World Cup: +20000<\/strong><\/p>\n

Slovenia is a team that most has written off at every stage during qualifying, even in their playoff with Russia. But Slovenia managed to defend their way to a World Cup spot.<\/p>\n

Not much is expected yet again. It is thought that Slovenia is just happy to have qualified for the World Cup. They will make life tough for the front runners in the group, but they certainly do not have enough firepower to contend with the “big boys“.<\/p>\n

Slovenia plays air tight defense as demonstrated by the four goals that they gave up in ten qualifying matches. Slovenia will play hard but emerge with a third place finish in the Group.<\/p>\n

If the African Cup is any barometer of how Algeria will perform on the big stage, their chances look bleak. Qualifying was tough as well and they snuck into the World Cup with a narrow victory over the team that beat them 4-0 in the African Cup \u2013\u00a0Egypt.<\/p>\n

Algeria has not done a whole lot to inspire confidence in their squad. Unless there is some magic in their boots, they will continue to disappoint.<\/p>\n

Algeria World Cup Predictions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Algeria`s only chance for any points in the tournament is against a cohesive Slovenian squad. I don`t like their chances. Fourth place finish in the Group with an outside chance at third is all that they can hope for.<\/p>\n

Any Group that has the likes of the English will be full of intrigue. The two horse race between England and the United States should be one of the more interesting Group battles to watch. Many will be watching the potential English train wreck, particularly the Americans.<\/p>\n
