The Golden State Warriors (48-34 SU, 34-48 ATS, 45-35-2 O\/U) recorded a solid 48-34 record despite missing out on the postseason because of the stellar records of several of their Western Conference rivals.<\/p>\n
However, bettors should know that things aren\u2019t looking too good for the Warriors and head coach Don Nelson as they begin preparation for the upcoming 2008-09 NBA season.<\/p>\n
First, the Warriors lost starting point guard Baron Davis who inexplicably bolted to play for the for the lowly Clippers. Then, after signing guard Monte Ellis to a huge long-term contract, they watched as the blossoming Ellis severely injured his ankle and subsequently lied about the injury to team management. He did it on a moped!<\/p>\n
Although the Clippers signed high-scoring veteran free agent Corey Maggette and also added veteran forward Ronny Turiaf, not to mention drafting a terrific talent in 6-10 point forward Anthony Randolph out of LSU, the Warriors will continue to have trouble beating good teams unless they eventually learn to play some defense, something no Don Nelson-coached team has ever done.<\/p>\n
The Warriors also re-signed blossoming center Andris Biedrins but may now be looking at an unhappy Stephen Jackson who is making \u2018just\u2019 $14.9 million over the next two seasons.<\/p>\n
Golden State also drafted 6-9 forward Richard Hendrix out of Alabama and he should help provide some much-needed toughness.<\/p>\n
“Losing B.D. hurt me. That’s my boy — my brother more than my teammate,\u201d said Jackson.
\nThe Warriors led the league in scoring in 2007-08 averaging a whopping 111.0 points per game, but ranked 30th in defense, allowing 108.8 points per contest while allowing their opponents to shoot a blistering 46.8 percent from the field (26th).<\/p>\n
The Warriors also posted a poor ATS record last season, going an atrocious 14-27 ATS at home, but were one of the top \u2018locks\u2019 to go Over their respective O\/U totals with their prolific offense helping the team post a 45-35-2 O\/U record.<\/p>\n
