But there are exceptions. We know the Yankees are legitimately awesome and the Orioles are legitimately awful.<\/p>\n<p>Where do the other 28 teams fit in? (Last week\u2019s ranking in brackets)<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. (5) New York Yankees (10-3): <\/strong>Haven\u2019t lost since the last power rankings. Enough said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. (3) Minnesota Twins (10-4): <\/strong>Could be another great season if Francisco Liriano truly is back.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. (6) Tampa Bay Rays (10-4): <\/strong>Again \u2013 don\u2019t consider the start a fluke. With their lineup, they\u2019re legit competition to Boston.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. (21) Los Angeles Angels (8-7): <\/strong>How about that climb! Five straight wins will do that. You didn\u2019t think they were actually going to stink this season, did you?<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. (1) Philadelphia Phillies (8-5): <\/strong>Is Roy Halladay nervous? He\u2019s won three games; the rest of Philly\u2019s staff has won five. This seems awfully familiar for Doc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. (2) St. Louis Cardinals (9-5): <\/strong>The 20-inning marathon took some wind out of their sails but they\u2019ll be fine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. (17) Atlanta Braves (8-5): <\/strong>Believe. Jason Heyward is becoming a legend and the Braves should compete for a playoff spot again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. (4) San Francisco Giants (8-6): <\/strong>Predictably, poor offense is spoiling some nice pitching performances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. (13) Oakland Athletics (9-6): <\/strong>Nice story but I can\u2019t imagine the decent start lasting much longer. They\u2019ve already dropped two straight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. (16) Florida Marlins (8-6)<\/strong>: Seems like Jorge Cantu flies out of the gate every year \u2013 and so do the Marlins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11. (12) Toronto Blue Jays (9-6): <\/strong>Still not going away but, rest assured, they will. There\u2019s no hope in the AL East without realignment. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 1px; border: 3px solid #ffffff;\" src=\"http:\/\/baff.betonline.com\/aspx\/affiliateGetImage.aspx?ID_SC=2225&amp;ID_I=1817\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>12. (7) Colorado Rockies (7-7): <\/strong>Ubaldo Jimenez\u2019s no-hitter stole the show but he needs some help from the rest of Colorado\u2019s rotation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. (26) San Diego Padres (8-6): <\/strong>The five-game winning streak will mean nothing a month from now but, hey, let\u2019s put them in the top-20 while it\u2019s still remotely acceptable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. (8) Detroit Tigers (7-7): <\/strong>The offense is exceeding expectations; the pitching is falling short of them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. (11) Boston Red Sox (5-9): <\/strong>Ranking them 15<sup>th<\/sup> is generous, and injuries to Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron won\u2019t help, but the BoSox will bounce back soon enough.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. (19) Seattle Mariners (8-7): <\/strong>The pitching continues to dazzle and we still haven\u2019t seen Cliff Lee yet. The Mariners look like they\u2019ll make it interesting in the AL West.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. (23) Pittsburgh Pirates (8-7): <\/strong>Garrett Jones is a nice story early on \u2013 shades of Dave Kingman \u2013 but the Pirates\u00a0 will be basement-bound before long.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18. (15) Los Angeles Dodgers (6-7): <\/strong>Alarm bells sound with every Chad Billingsley start. If he can\u2019t be a legit No. 2, the Dodgers need to go shopping for one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19. (25) Washington Nationals (7-7): <\/strong>Is it possible that the Nats will have an above-average offense this season? Looks that way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. (14) Cincinnati Reds (6-8): <\/strong>Homer Bailey is flopping yet again. Tough to see Cincy in the playoffs if he can\u2019t be a key contributor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21. (9) Texas Rangers (5-8)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>22. (10) Arizona Diamondbacks (6-8)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>23. (28) Cleveland Indians (6-7)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>24. (27) New York Mets (6-8)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>25. (24) Milwaukee Brewers (6-7)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>26. (18) Chicago Cubs (5-9)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>27. (20) Chicago White Sox (5-9)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>28. (30) Houston Astros (4-9)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>29. (22) Kansas City Royals (5-9)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>30.
