MLB Power Rankings (as of 16\/04\/2010)<\/h2>\n

Now that every MLB team has 10 games, give or take, under its belt, it\u2019s time to start the weekly MLB power rankings. Keep in mind that, early in the season, we still have to give weight to last year\u2019s results. Sorry, Blue Jays.<\/p>\n

1. Philadelphia Phillies (7-1): <\/strong>If his first two starts are any indication, Doc Halladay has shown us that he and the Phillies do in fact have an extra gear. Scary.<\/p>\n

2. St. Louis Cardinals (6-2): <\/strong>Albert Pujols is mashing as usual and Dave Duncan looks like he\u2019s about to turn Brad Penny into this year\u2019s Joel Pineiro.<\/p>\n

3. Minnesota Twins (6-3): <\/strong>No Joe Nathan, no problem so far. The pretty new ballpark earns them an extra notch or two in the rankings.<\/p>\n

4. San Francisco Giants (7-2): <\/strong>We can\u2019t see the early-season success as a major surprise, as there\u2019s no question these guys can pitch like crazy. Even Jonathan Sanchez opened eyes with an 11-K effort last night.<\/p>\n

5. New York Yankees (5-3): <\/strong>They\u2019re just getting warmed up and Curtis Granderson looks like a smart acquisition so far.<\/p>\n

6. Tampa Bay Rays (6-3): <\/strong>Unlike Toronto, Tampa has enough talent that we should take its strong start seriously.<\/p>\n

7. Colorado Rockies (5-3): <\/strong>Believe the Ubaldo Jimenez hype. And it\u2019s nice to see Ian Stewart delivering on the buzz as well.<\/p>\n

8. Detroit Tigers (6-3): <\/strong>Hitting was supposed to be a problem but the rededicated Miggy Cabrera is mashing and Austin \u201cAction\u201d Jackson\u2019s rookie season is starting promisingly.<\/p>\n

9. Texas Rangers (5-3): <\/strong>Sneaking Colby Lewis back from Japan looks like a brilliant move so far.<\/p>\n

10. Arizona Diamondbacks (5-3): <\/strong>Like the Rays, the D-Backs have the talent to put a scare into their NL West competition. Has Chris Young finally arrived?<\/p>\n

11. Boston Red Sox (4-4): <\/strong>Note to Terry Francona: BENCH BIG PAPI. Jeremy Hermida can DH when Jacoby Ellsbury returns. \"\"<\/p>\n

12. Toronto Blue Jays (6-3): <\/strong>Vernon Wells, Ricky Romero and Shaun Marcum have been bright spots thus far but the basement still seems inevitable.<\/p>\n

13. Oakland Athletics (6-4): <\/strong>Brett Anderson is the real deal. Dallas Braden? Not so much. A\u2019s fans should still temper their expectations.<\/p>\n

14. Cincinnati Reds (5-4): <\/strong>A decent start plus Aroldis Chapman (literally) and Jay Bruce (mentally) haven\u2019t joined the team yet. There\u2019s room for improvement.<\/p>\n

15. Los Angeles Dodgers (3-5): <\/strong>Their track record keeps them in the top 15 but, if Chad Billingsley doesn\u2019t find his control, they\u2019ll miss the playoffs.<\/p>\n

16. Florida Marlins (5-4): <\/strong>Jorge Cantu is up to his usual early-season tricks. Too bad Josh Johnson isn\u2019t so far.<\/p>\n

17. Atlanta Braves (4-4): <\/strong>if only the rest of the lineup could help Jason Heyward and Brian McCann out a little more.<\/p>\n

18. Chicago Cubs (4-4): <\/strong>Remember when Carlos Zambrano was a Cy Young contender? Me neither. The Cubbies look their age so far.<\/p>\n

19. Seattle Mariners (4-6): <\/strong>Has Milton Bradley hit the end of the line with his new team\u00a0already? <\/em> Sheesh. Seattle needs Cliff Lee back in a hurry.<\/p>\n

20. Chicago White Sox<\/strong> (4-5): <\/strong>Is it possible that Jake Peavy is the weak link in the rotation?<\/p>\n

21. Los Angeles Angels (3-6)<\/strong>
\n22. Kansas City Royals (4-5)<\/strong>
\n23. Pittsburgh Pirates (4-5)<\/strong>
\n24. Milwaukee Brewers (3-5)<\/strong>
