I\u2019ll assume that you\u2019re already watching Tiger\u2019s Masters progress like a hawk, so we\u2019ll use today\u2019s news to cover the rest of the sports info we missed while obsessing over the world\u2019s most famous athlete yesterday.<\/p>\n
NFL news: Jets meet with Jason Taylor; McNabb meshing well in D.C.<\/strong><\/p>\n You have to give Rex Ryan and the New York Jets credit for never resting on their laurels. Despite boasting the NFL\u2019s top defense last season, they\u2019re still trying to improve in that regard. They met with free agent linebacker and six-time Pro Bowler Jason Taylor this week in an effort to keep him in the AFC East. Sure would be interesting to see Taylor battling the Miami Dolphins twice a year.<\/p>\n The early prognosis among Donovan McNabb\u2019s new teammates in Washington is quite good. He\u2019s reportedly looked \u201cin command\u201d in throwing drills and more vocal Redskins players like Chris Cooley said \u201cit feels like he\u2019s been here for a couple years.\u201d Clearly, Donovan is bribing teammates with Chunky Soup.<\/p>\n MLB news: Rollins regrets, Suppan whines<\/strong><\/p>\n Turns out former Phillie Curt Schilling isn\u2019t the only one critical of general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.\u2019s decision to trade Cliff Lee in the offseason. Jimmy Rollins tossed in his two cents on Dan Patrick\u2019s Radio Show yesterday. Rollins claimed he was sure the Phillies could\u2019ve afforded to keep both Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay. He also said he got a text from Jayson Werth on the day of the trade asking, \u201cWhat are we doing?\u201d I guess the Phillies veterans don\u2019t care about re-stocking the prospects cupboard.<\/p>\n If you ever wonder why other athletes sometimes make fun of baseball players, wonder no more. Brewers starting pitcher Jeff Suppan claims he hit the DL with a stiff neck because the condo he was staying at in spring training \u201chad really bad pillows\u201d and he \u201chad to sleep on a rolled-up towel.\u201d<\/p>\n I don\u2019t know which is worse \u2013 the Suppan story or Joel Zumaya\u2019s\u00a0Guitar Hero <\/em>debacle. It definitely gives you more appreciation for an iron man like Brett Favre, though, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n NBA news: Don Nelson gets a soda shower<\/strong><\/p>\n Maybe this is mean to say \u2013 but it seems appropriate that Don Nelson, who is the winningest coach in NBA history but\u00a0still <\/em>doesn\u2019t have a championship, would get a second-rate celebration after setting the record. His Golden State Warriors didn\u2019t have any champagne so they decided to shower him in Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist. Seems fitting to me. <\/strong><\/span> NHL news: Slovenian hockey party gets out of control; Tkachuk calls it a career<\/strong><\/p>\n Finally, something exciting other than Anze Kopitar has come from Slovenia. After winning the Slovenian Hockey League Championship, the players of champion Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated their third straight title like any team would: by beating the crap out of their coach.<\/p>\n Yep. The story supposedly went like this: coach Mike Posma told the team\u2019s backup goaltender to drive a car even though he was quite drunk. After the goalie (predictably) crashed, six players from the team turned on Posma, beating him with wooden traffic signs they found by the side of the road.<\/p>\n All six players have been released by the team. Hard to say who is the true villain here. It\u2019s not like they beat Posma with steel signs, right?<\/p>\n Back on our side of the pond, Keith Tkachuk is calling it a career. The 19-year veteran leaves the NHL with 538 goals, fourth among active players.
