Forlan won the Pichichi award for top scorer in La Liga last season, as well the European Golden Shoe. <\/p>\n Forlan will be paired with forward Luis Suarez from Ajax Amsterdam fame. Suarez and Forlan combined for 12 goals in the qualifiers and can strike fear into any goalkeeper. Finally, there is captain and central defender Diego Lugano who likes to combine his defensive duties with often-profitable forays into the opposing penalty box. Uruguay finished fifth in the ten-team qualifying group, and could have secured automatic seeding by beating Argentina in the final game of CONMEBOL qualifying, but lost 1-0 and instead had to face a play-off against CONCACAF\u2019s Costa Rica, which La Celeste won 2-1 over two legs.
