Ready to start MLB baseball betting? We bring you our future predictions for the year.

This week marked the start of 2010 Major League Baseball and unofficially, the bigtime matchups on Monday was the “real” Opening Day.

View The MLB Cappers Leaderboard For 2009 – Picks Packages for 2010 On Sale Now! —–>

In honor of that, let’s start reviewing futures for the main awards. Behold, my top 10 American League MVP choices, in order of preference. The names near the bottom don’t have listed odds just yet in books.

1. ALEX RODRIGUEZ (+350 to win)

I feel fantastic about this pick. Think about all the pressures A-Rod had on his shoulders entering last season: the steroid case, the hip surgery, the lack of a World Series ring. Now, all those problems are gone. There’s no pressure on him and he’s thus poised for a monster season.

2. EVAN LONGORIA (+150 to win)

Sportsbooks are all over him, currently listing him as the top favorite. It’s tough to argue against Longoria, who has an excellent shot at 40 homers this season and plays above-average defense. If The Rays can keep pace with the Yankees and Red Sox, Longoria has a great shot.

3. JOE MAUER (+180 to win)

The reigning MVP naturally warrants major consideration. Mauer undoubtedly has the tools to repeat his success; he, along with Ichiro, can hit for average arguably better than any player since Tony Gwynn and he’s grown into his power, too. But last season was the first time Mauer stayed truly healthy. I won’t bet on him until I see him do it again.

4. MARK TEIXEIRA (+350 to win)

Statistically, there’s no reason why he can’t match Alex Rodriguez’s numbers. He’s a team leader, too, and plays solid defense at first base. I suppose the only risk for both Tex and A-Rod is that they will split votes hitting at No. 3 and No. 4 in the Yankees’ order.

5. MIGUEL CABRERA (+200 to win)

Books are propping Miggy up as a major MVP contender. Based on his talent and consistently outstanding numbers, that makes sense. But we can’t take for granted that the Detroit Tigers’ lineup is depleted without Curtis Granderson. I don’t think Cabrera has ever been so alone in an offense. That’s why I won’t place a bet on him.

6. JUSTIN MORNEAU (no odds listed)

Mauer gets all the hype but Justin Morneau hits 25-plus homers and drives in 100 runs in his sleep every season. He already has one MVP award, so another isn’t out of the question.

7. KENDRY MORALES (no odds listed)

Was Morales the American League’s best hitter in the second half last year? He hit .330 with 19 homers and slugged .614 in his last 70 games of 2009. If he keeps up that pace this season, he makes a fine MVP pick.

8. KEVIN YOUKILIS (no odds listed)

Watch out for the Greek God of Walks if Boston has a resurgent season. He plays great defense, hits for power and gets on base like crazy. He’s the likable type of player who can steal votes the same way Dustin Pedroia did two years ago.

9. CARLOS QUENTIN (no odds listed)

Quentin is a deep sleeper indeed but he smashed 36 homers and drove in 100 runs in just 130 games two years ago. If the White Sox contend again and Quentin stays relatively healthy, could he have another monster season?

10. VICTOR MARTINEZ (no odds listed)

He’ll have major RBI opportunities hitting behind Jacoby Ellsbury and Pedroia this season. If the Red Sox can win the division, maybe voters will credit a full season of V-Mart as the main reason why.

Spring Training Is Over & The Regular Season Is In Full Session – Now is The Time To Bet on Baseball Futures At Sportsbook.com!!!
