Could it be? The first playoff appearance for the Charlotte Bobcats? Michael Jordan\u2019s team is currently holding down the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference but has a tough hurdle to climb tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.<\/p>\n

Even at home, it won\u2019t be easy for Charlotte tonight. Its go-to guys, Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace, are both playing through pain down the stretch. Jackson in particular is hurting, generally banged up with hamstring, elbow, ankle, hand \u2013 let\u2019s just say everything hurts. He missed the fourth quarter in a 96-88 loss to Chicago last Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Hawks aren\u2019t in tip-top shape, either. Top scorer Joe Johnson, who is averaging over 21 points per game this season, will miss tonight\u2019s game and probably tomorrow night\u2019s matchup in Detroit with a sprained right thumb.<\/p>\n

If it weren\u2019t for Johnson, I\u2019d go with Atlanta tonight. But the Hawks are just 2-7 against the spread over their last nine matchups with Charlotte and will try to overcome that trend without their star. Also, Atlanta is locked into a home-court playoff series in the first round, six and a half games up on fifth-place Miami. Charlotte will play with far more desperation tonight. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
