After a hiatus, the daily news beat is back and there\u2019s plenty to discuss. The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to make headlines for all the wrong reasons this NFL offseason. The latest guy to lead off the day\u2019s news: Santonio Holmes. <\/p>\n
NFL news: Santonio Holmes accused of assault<\/strong><\/p>\n Did Santonio Holmes feel the need to honor his quarterback and (allegedly) commit a crime of his own? He joined Ben Roethlisberger as a second Pittsburgh Steeler to be accused of a violent offense in the last week.<\/p>\n In a lawsuit filed last Wednesday, Anshonoe Mills claimed that Holmes, the Super Bowl XLIII MVP, threw a glass in her face and bloodied her because she was sitting on a couch in the VIP section of an Orlando nightclub. He reportedly offered to pay her off, wanting to avoid bad publicity, but she eventually contacted the police.<\/p>\n On a lighter note, Sam Bradford keeps rocketing up the draft board as the big day approaches; in fact, he may be back in the No. 1 spot. He impressed scouts bigtime in his 63-pass workout yesterday, generating buzz like \u201cno ball touched the ground\u201d and Troy Aikman comparisons because of his accuracy. The New Jersey Nets aren\u2019t the NBA\u2019s ultimate all-time laughing stock. By the looks of it, they\u2019ll just be the second- biggest laughing stock. A report leaked in the\u00a0Phoenix Business Journal <\/em>yesterday explaining that the NHL had a \u201cbackup deal\u201d with Toronto billionaire David Thomson and True North Sports and Entertainment, a Winnipeg-based company.<\/p>\n If Ice Edge Holdings or Jerry Reinsdorf fails to keep the Coyotes in Arizona, the move north is a contingency plan.<\/p>\n Hey \u2013 nothing wrong with a Plan B or C.
