The big question on everyone\u2019s mind in this Big Ten tournament is whether or not the No. 5 Purdue Boilermakers can repeat as champs without Robbie Hummel. <\/p>\n

Their star forward was averaging 15.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season before he tore his ACL on February 24. Can Purdue remain a force without Hummel, who was a big part of their success in last year\u2019s Big Ten tourney? <\/p>\n

To do so against Northwestern tonight, the supporting cast must be better. Hummel and fellow star E\u2019Twaun Moore were dynamite the last time Purdue and Northwestern met but the rest of the Boilermakers shot a horrific 22.6 per cent as the Wildcats prevailed 72-64. <\/p>\n

Even without Hummel, Purdue is probably the better team \u2013 after all, Hummel had missed multiple games with minor injuries throughout the season before he got seriously hurt and the Boilermakers were fine. But I think they\u2019ll have a devil of a time covering the eight-point spread tonight. They\u2019ve failed to cover in five straight games and haven\u2019t beaten a spread since losing Hummel; sportsbooks haven\u2019t adjusted to the injury. <\/p>\n

Worse yet, Northwestern is 11-4 ATS over its last 15 battles with Purdue and the Wildcats looked great against an Indiana team that had a pseudo-home-court advantage with Conseco Fieldhouse hosting the tournament. I like them to beat the spread tonight.<\/p>\n
