Butler has the luxury of trying to close out the Horizon Conference Tournament on its homecourt this evening.<\/p>\n

Butler won both regular season matchups covering both at home and on the road.\u00a0 They won each game by 12 points.<\/p>\n

Wright State has been the second best team in the Horizon conference for most of Butlers recent run of dominance.\u00a0 This year they were at the top of the second tier of conference and got there by playing stout defence, giving up only 60 points per game.\u00a0 They are going to need a stellar defensive game to earn the Horizon’s automatic bid against Butler’s plethora of weapons.\u00a0 Like so many small conference teams this team is…small.\u00a0 They are led by three guards including Vaughan Duggins, a senior and their leading scorer.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The Raiders have not beat Butler since 2007 when they swept them.\u00a0 They are also not a very good road team and this is one of the rare championship games that is not really at a neutral site.\"Sports<\/p>\n

It may seem nitpicky but despite the gaudy record and undefeated conference season I think Butler has had a pretty mediocre season. \u00a0Matt Howard is fouling everyone in sight and Gordon Hayward has been very inconsistent. \u00a0If these two do not have good games this team could easily get bounced in the first round of the “Tournament”. \u00a0That said, the Bulldogs should not have much trouble dispatching the Raiders this evening providing hope for the litany of bubble teams. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In the Horizon their talent is far superior to the opposition and the shortcomings of Howard and Hayward keep opponents in the game for longer than expected (see brutal ATS record). \u00a0Butler will play most of the game with a working 5 point margin with a late run making it a double digit victory.<\/p>\n
