There has been some movement in the Power Rankings as some teams were more obviously ready to play than others. This week also saw some teams better themselves with key acquisitions at the NHL trade deadline.

So here we go with this week’s NHL Power Rankings.

And…as always check out our top cappers NHL daily plays CLICK HERE! —–>

Agree? Disagree? Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

1. Capitals – 44-13-8 (3 weeks ago: 1). 13 straight home wins and a 25-3-3 record at home. They haven’t lost since the Olympic break and play the first of three at home on Monday night. Nuff said!!!

2. Sharks – 42-14-9 (2). Don’t play until Thursday this week. I’m sure that the five members of the Sharks welcome the rest after the Gold Medal game they participated in last Sunday. This team is awesome.

3. Penguins – 40-22-4 (9). The Penguins are unbeaten since the Olympic break. Sid is on fire. They’ve got Carolina, New Jersey and Tampa this week on the road. The way they’ve been playing, they are a deserved #3.

4. Blackhawks – 43-17-5 (3). Up and down week for the Hawks. Wins against Edmonton and Vancouver, losses to the Islanders and Detroit. Tough week ahead – Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Washington are on tap. We’ll see if they are still here next week.

5. Coyotes – 39-22-5 (7). Have the fifth best record in the NHL and are 3-1 after the break They have one tough game against Vancouver, then its Carolina and Atlanta on the road. With their deadline moves, they are a much better team.

6. Canucks – 40-23-2 (5). 3-1 on the road since the Olympic break. They beat some good teams this week – Detroit and Nashville in their buildings. When the epic road trip ends, Vancouver wil be in the top 5 for sure.

7. Kings – 38-22-4 (4). This is a good young team with a good leadership base. I like the makeup of this team and think they can bounce back after a so-so week.

8. Avalanche – 37-22-6 (6). Hanging in with the Canucks, the Avs are runner up to the most surprising story of the NHL so far. Milan Hejduk is back – it should make a difference.

9. Sabres – 34-20-9 (11). A couple of overtime wins salvaged a week in which they lost to the 2 hottest teams in the NHL. They have a couple of winnable home games this week.

10. Flyers – 33-26-4 (12). .500 week for the Flyers. They are home for three straight this week.

11. Predators – 35-25-5 (13). Lost to the Canucks on Sunday but still have an amazing 35 wins. . Coach Barry Trotz has this team playing cohesive, mistake free hockey.

12. Devils – 38-22-3 (10). The Alberta trip was a disaster – lost to Edmonton and Calgary. I hope they can bounce back against the Isles, Pens and Rangers this week.

13. Flames – 32-24-9 (14) – Finally playing like the team they thought they were going to be. I guess the pressure has acted as a wake up call.

14. Senators – 36-25-4 (8). Lost to Carolina and Toronto this week – bad. Now they go on a three game Western road trip – bad. Slumps happen I guess!

15. Red Wings – 31-22-12 (15).
