Maryland is flying high after beating Duke on Senior night while Virginia has lost 8 in a row after a promising start in ACC play.\u00a0 Maryland might have a bit of a letdown but should still be able to handle a UVA team that doesn’t have much after guard Sylvan Landesburg.<\/p>\n

When you watch Maryland play you see a gritty team with a great guard of its own in Greivis Vazquez.\u00a0 They are not always pretty but the numbers are nice including 12th in the nation in scoring at 80ppg and 10th in FG%D at 38%.\u00a0 Led by Vazquez this team has one of the better backcourts in the nation.\u00a0 He may look awkward but he is very effective, kind of like Manu Ginobli.\"Sports\u00a0 Backcourt mates Eric Hayes and Sean Mosley are great 3 point threats who find open spots off of Vazquez’s penetration.\u00a0 Its simple but it works.\u00a0 Coach Gary Williams is all about intensity and so is his team.<\/p>\n

I still can’t understand why Coach Bennett grabbed the Virginia job.\u00a0 Sure it is the ACC but Virginia is rarely in contention and his defense first style is tough to execute when there is such a huge talent imbalance.\u00a0 I give him 4 years tops.\u00a0 The real problems the Cavs have though is personnel.\u00a0 After Landesburg the offense gets pretty thin and the ACC is a league where you have to be able to outscore somebody once in while.\u00a0 This team is in a free fall which will not end this weekend.\u00a0 Maybe after some rest they can play for some respect in the ACC tournament.<\/p>\n
