The Sharks are another powerhouse team that had us scratching our heads last night. Shut out by Columbus? Really? San Jose has no time to reflect on the loss, as it plays its third game in four nights at Joe Louis Arena tonight.<\/p>\n

Somehow, the Wings are hanging in the Western Conference playoff hunt, but I\u2019m not sure how, as they keep losing. Is it the overtime losses? Amazingly, including defeats in extra time, the wings have 32 losses versus 27 wins this season. They\u2019ve battled injuries all season but, arguably, the damage was done last offseason, when they let Marian Hossa, Jiri Hudler and Mikael Samuelsson walk, diminishing their depth. \"Sports Johan Franzen\u2019s return to lineup from ACL surgery on Tuesday night does bode well for an offensive turnaround.<\/p>\n

Despite Detroit\u2019s struggles, however, it\u2019s 3-0 against the Sharks this year, outscoring them 10-4. The Wings are oh-so overdue for an inspired effort and the Sharks are probably fatigued, playing their fifth straight road game and fifth game in seven nights. San Jose isn\u2019t likely to get shut out two nights in a row, especially the dominant top line, so Detroit will have to score a bunch. But I think the Wings are up to the task.<\/p>\n
