They have all the defensive prowess they had under his original coaching tenure and Marty Brodeur\u2014but adding Zach Parise\u2019s offensive prowess makes them all the more dangerous. Allowing the league\u2019s fewest goals so far comes as no surprise \u2013 but having the league\u2019s No. 6 power play might.<\/p>\n

The Devils are 15-4-1 on the road and thus pose a major threat at Madison Square Garden tonight. But is there a chance for a minor upset (though the sportsbooks wouldn\u2019t call it that tonight)? The Devils are 3-1 in 2010 but haven\u2019t faced an elite opponent yet (Montreal, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Minnesota).\"Sports Meanwhile, the Rangers have just one regulation loss in their last 12 games. Their secondary scorers like Ryan Callahan are finally chipping in and King Henrik Lundqvist\u2019s consistently sound second-half goaltending has arrived right on schedule.<\/p>\n

Also worth noting: Marty Brodeur\u2019s career numbers sparkle against the Rangers (40-22-15) but haven\u2019t been nearly as good in the last few seasons, when he\u2019s gone 2-7-3 against them. There\u2019s also the Sean Avery factor. The superpest has zero goals in 17 career games against New Jersey but his ability to get in Brodeur\u2019s head is well-documented.<\/p>\n

I like the Rangers tonight. They\u2019re the hotter group and the Devils are due to get jolted awake by a good team.<\/p>\n
