WEEK 17 STUDS AND DUDS<\/h2>\n

Each week, the CappersPicks.com fantasy football guru Dave B brings you players you need to be paying attention to – Remember \u2013 fantasy football championships are often won by those who live eat and breath fantasy football<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Going into Week 17, I thought that with the number of great players that were bound to be rested, The Studs list would be a difficult one to compile.\u00a0 That\u2019s the beauty of the NFL.<\/p>\n

Week 17, like any other week, had plenty of amazing performances – most however, were not from the usual sources.<\/p>\n

The Duds list is typically made up of disappointing efforts.<\/p>\n

Here then is Dave B\u2019s Week 17 edition of the Studs and Duds list.<\/p>\n

Stud of the Week<\/span><\/h3>\n

Chris Johnson – Tennessee<\/strong> – To be honest, there were others that had better weeks, but Johnson gets Stud of the Week because of the milestone 2000 yards rushing on the season – only the 6th<\/sup> person in NFL history to achieve the feat.\u00a0 Oh ya – he had 134 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns against Seattle along with another 3 catches for 20 yards.<\/p>\n

Dud of the Week<\/span><\/h3>\n

Brandon Marshall – Denver<\/strong> – Marshall didn\u2019t even play this week but is still Dud of the Week.\u00a0 Why??\u00a0 It\u2019s easy – Marshall got himself benched in what was to be the biggest game of the season for the Broncos.\u00a0 Marshall plays football ONLY for himself and is therefore Dud of the Week.<\/p>\n

Other Studs<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Brett Favre – Minnesota<\/strong> – The old man can still play.\u00a0 Coming off a tumultuous week in which his leadership and team play was questioned, Favre delivered 316 yards passing and 4 touchdowns in a total beat down of the Giants.<\/p>\n

Jay Cutler – Chicago<\/strong> – It only took 17 weeks, but Cutler finally made it to the Stud column.\u00a0 Too bad it had to happen so late.\u00a0 Anyhow, Cutler threw for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns in Week 17, making a worthy candidate for Stud mention.<\/p>\n

Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh<\/strong> – Miami didn\u2019t want to go away did they?\u00a0 Big Ben and his Stud play put the Dolphins away with 220 efficient yards and 3 touchdowns.\u00a0 The Steelers won\u2019t make the playoffs, but I\u2019ll bet that it was nice to finish strong.<\/p>\n

Fred Jackson – Buffalo<\/strong> – \u201cMr. Up and Down\u201d was definitely Up this week.\u00a0 He ripped the resting Colts Defense for 212 yards rushing while adding a receiving touchdown.\u00a0 Jackson appears to have won himself a starting job for next year based on his Stud finale of 2009.<\/p>\n

Jamaal Charles – Kansas City<\/strong> – Charles has been lights out in the last month or so, putting him on the radar for next year\u2019s Fantasy drafts.\u00a0 He carried his Offense again to the tune of 259 yards and 2 touchdowns.\u00a0 Charles was a very close runner up for Stud of the Week.<\/p>\n

Willis McGahee – Baltimore<\/strong> – Where the hell did this performance come from.\u00a0 In a huge game, McGahee took himself off of his familiar bench position, and rumbled for 167 yards and 3 tds.\u00a0 I really have no words except – Stud!!<\/p>\n

Arian Foster – Houston<\/strong> – Another somewhat unsung player that had a HUGE Week 17.\u00a0 Foster was not even on the Texans roster at the beginning of the year, but ended their year with 145 combined yards and 2 touchdown.\u00a0 Things appear to be looking up for Houston – don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n

Jabar Gaffney – Denver<\/strong> – Filled in for the benched Brandon Marshall this week and delivered a Stud performance.\u00a0 Gaffney caught 14 balls for 213 yards.\u00a0 Could you imagine what Marshall could have done if he wasn\u2019t such a boob?<\/p>\n

Sidney Rice – Minnesota<\/strong> – Rice has been a Stud all year, so its only fitting that he ended the regular season on this list.\u00a0 Rice had 6 receptions for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 17 – and he didn\u2019t even play the whole game.<\/p>\n

Malcolm Floyd – San Diego<\/strong> – With the Chargers resting most of their starters, Floyd delivered a 9 catch, 140 yards performance with the backup Quarterback throwing him the ball.\u00a0 Nicely done Malcolm!!<\/p>\n

Zach Miller – Jacksonville<\/strong> – Out of nowhere, Miller makes the Stud list.\u00a0 He was Jacksonville\u2019s only effective player, making 6 catches for 69 yards and 2 touchdowns.\u00a0 Miller wins the award for this week\u2019s \u201cunlikliest Stud\u201d.<\/p>\n

Other Duds<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Eli Manning – NY Giants<\/strong> – Ugh!! The $100 million <\/strong>man sure didn\u2019t deliver today – or all season for that matter.\u00a0 In Week 17, Manning could only muster 141 yards passing with 1 interception and 1 lost fumble.\u00a0 It was like Manning had his holiday flight already booked.<\/p>\n

Donovan McNabb – Philadelphia<\/strong> – Huge game for the Eagles, and Donovan delivers a Dud.\u00a0 McNabb was 20\/36 for 223 yards and NO touchdowns in a game that he was expected to show up and dominate.\u00a0 Now the Eagles have to travel back to Dallas next week to play the suddenly scary Cowboys. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Joe Flacco – Baltimore<\/strong> – We all know that Baltimore is a running team, but 102 yards passing is just ridiculous.\u00a0 Flacco didn\u2019t really need to do anything special in this game – AND HE TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE OF THAT.<\/p>\n

St. Louis QBS<\/strong> – 11\/28 for 80 yards that\u2019s it for Boller and Null.\u00a0 Tragic.<\/p>\n

Cadillac Williams – Tampa Bay<\/strong> – Cadillac was on the Stud list last week, so expectation might have been a little out of whack.\u00a0 But 19 touches for 40 yards against a vulnerable Atlanta Defense is surely a Dud effort.<\/p>\n

Ricky Williams – Miami<\/strong> -Ran hard, but could only muster 35 combined yards.\u00a0 Miami kept their game close despite Ricky\u2019s effort – I don\u2019t know how.<\/p>\n

Maurice Jones-Drew – Jacksonville<\/strong> – MJD was supposed to rip it up this week against a weak Cleveland Defense.\u00a0 He was one of a few sure things.\u00a0 86 combined yards and no tds. was a Dud performance.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia RBS<\/strong> – This was the week that Brian Westbrook returned.\u00a0 Between he and LeSean McCoy, they were supposed to have a good game.\u00a0 7 rushing attempts only for 23 whole yards.\u00a0 Can you say……..Dud?<\/p>\n

NY Giants RBS<\/strong> – Ahmad Bradshaw and Danny Ware combined for a total of 12 carries, 35 yards and a touchdown.\u00a0 And the disaster known as the Giants 2009 running game concludes.<\/p>\n

Santonio Holmes – Pittsburgh<\/strong> – This was his type of game and yet all he got was 1 catch for 5 yards and a score.<\/p>\n

Roy Williams – Dallas<\/strong> – Another goosegg. Williams might get cut in the off-season – he\u2019s that much of a Dud.<\/p>\n

DeSean Jackson – Philadelphia<\/strong> – I was one of many that thought that DeSean Jackson would be huge in Week 17.\u00a0\u00a0 3 catches for 47 yards prove myself and a lot of other people wrong.<\/p>\n

Antonio Bryant – Tampa Bay<\/strong> – 2 catches for 15 yards, just when you thought that he could sting together a few good games.\u00a0 Ungood.<\/p>\n
