Time<\/strong>: Sunday 4:05 ET And the Colts are going for it. Yes, we all know what they\u2019re saying and we all know about resting injured players and we all know it\u2019s the Super Bowl they\u2019re really after and we all know yada yada yada . . .<\/p>\n But they\u2019re going for it. 14-0 has been done and 16-0 has been done and 18-0 has been done. But 19-0 has never been done, and the chance to put that cherry on top of the sundae is just too much to resist.<\/p>\n Every player, coach and general manager will vow to take things one game at a time, but the Colts are 14-0 with five to go, and you can bet that Peyton Manning and everyone connected with the franchise has considered what it would mean to be the first team to run table and finish 19-0. First up is the Jets, who most of this season have talked a better game than they have played. Rex Ryan\u2019s boys are loose cannons because they love to blitz and collapse the pocket, and Manning\u2019s quick release and solid offensive line have kept the presumptive MVP on his feet for 14 straight games. But the Jets will try to get at Manning . . . what have they got to lose?<\/p>\n Whatever air was left in the Jets\u2019 balloon escaped in that unexplainable loss to Atlanta in the Meadowlands last Sunday, and somehow they need to suck it up and figure out a way to hang with the Colts behind a skittish rookie quarterback who is averaging 2 interceptions a game over his last 5 starts.<\/p>\n Statistically the Jets have the best defense in pro football \u2013 they give up only 263 yards and 15.8 points a game. But Mark Sanchez\u2019s erratic play has produced way too many turnovers and shortened the field for opponents. Season-ending injuries to Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington have also taken a toll.<\/p>\n Sanchez will be going up against a small-but-fast Colts defense that gives up a lot of yards (338 a game) but stiffens in the red zone (5th in the league in points allowed). And when the defense struggles, as it did against Jacksonville, New England and Houston this season, Indy just trots out the ultimate eraser \u2013 Manning.<\/p>\n But make no mistake \u2013 the Colts are going for it. And even though Indy refuses to look ahead, we will.
