NFL Week 15 Lock Alert – San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles<\/h2>\n

Games like this with a touchdown spread are seriously difficult to gage. I usually wait until the line dips a little lower for my liking but as long as this game is sitting underneath -8.0 in favor of the Eagles, I\u2019m taking the Niners. San Francisco isn\u2019t a great team, but they\u2019re a sneaky team and a road team that can catch you off guard if you just think \u201cNiners suck\u201d and bet against them.<\/p>\n

Against the betting line they\u2019ve gone 5-1 ATS in their last 6 when playing the Eagles in Philadelphia. I know that Philadelphia is 6-3 ATS in their last 9 at home, and that they\u2019re 14-7 ATS overall in 21 games, but something about Philadelphia makes me terribly nervous. I just think that they have too many injuries, and when your hopes are hinged on Donavan McNabb, and you literally have no safety net other than Michael Vick, it\u2019s just too fragile of a situation to have serious stock in.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are in a precarious situation and they are a virtual lock for the playoffs with the Giants taking on the Redskins and the Cowboys getting served up on a platter for New Orleans this weekend. But they simply can\u2019t afford to be another team in a long list of upset specials carved out by the Niners this season. With San Fran coming off a huge, 7-turnover game against Arizona, I\u2019d be a bit more worried about Philly than usual.

\nNFL Betting Line: Philadelphia -7.5 (42.5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Any team that has to purely rely on passing can fall victim to the Niners, who feast on turnovers like a murder of ravenous vultures (I actually don\u2019t know what you call a group of vultures\u2026I know it\u2019s a \u201cmurder of crows\u201d\u2026so it just seems more fitting\u2026and it\u2019s certainly more dramatic!). McNabb is a great quarterback, but throwing bombs against the Niners is going to be more difficult than he\u2019d like and the front-seven of San Fran can slam the breaks on McNabb trying to scramble or McCoy trying to do anything productive.<\/p>\n

I also think that Philadelphia is a team that just crumbles whenever things are going their way. They escaped a Manning onslaught last weekend, but they\u2019re also talking this week with a sense of entitlement that really isn\u2019t befitting of Philly in general. Hey, they deserve to make the playoffs and I don\u2019t doubt that in the least. They\u2019re probably the most stable team in their division right now (other than Washington which has somehow gotten its act together), but against a sneaky Niners team which is full of big playmakers, I hate the idea of taking Philly -8.0 or more. I love the line where it is, so grab it before it moves up!<\/p>\n
