The two best teams in the nation’s best conference are set to do battle Saturday in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. By all accounts, it should be one to remember. The two programs, along with Texas in the Big 12, have comprised the immovable forces out of the major BCS conferences in 2009.<\/p>\n

This is, quite literally, a battle of two stout forces. It is a battle of two defenses that will funnel a lot of players to the NFL. Both offenses have looked prolific in flashes, and looked downright pop-gun at other times. It’s entirely possible that the victor in this game could wind up somewhere in the 17-24 point range in total output. Florida’s Brandon Spikes, Carlos Dunlap, Joe Haden and Alabama’s Rolando McClain, Javier Arenas and Terrance Cody should all be making an impact on Sundays. Thus, expect them to come up big for their respective sides this weekend.<\/p>\n

We haven’t even mentioned college football icon, Florida QB Tim Tebow or Alabama’s Heisman contender, RB Mark Ingram.

\nThe game could be characterized by a huge turnover or a mental mistake; the outstanding defenses should keep this game close. However, it would be unwise to bet against a heating-up Tebow, lightning-quick impact players like Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps and the best defense in the land. Last week, the Gators crushed in-state rival Florida State convincingly while ‘Bama squeaked past Auburn.<\/p>\n

While not a perfect litmus test, it certainly seems like Florida is playing better football at the crucial point of the season.<\/p>\n

I hope it’s an excellent game, but expect to see Florida playing in the National Title. However, I would be surprised to see Florida blow out the Tide – it should be worth the price of admission.<\/p>\n
