Ahhh, the Waiver Wire – a tool that brings back hope to the down and out. This week is full of Wide Receivers that could legitimately help during your upcoming Fantasy playoffs. There is also some young arms and some super subs that are poised to take over the positions that they have been bred to play.<\/p>\n
Pay attention folks, there may be some diamonds in the rough – ones that you could be bragging about when you are cashing the championship cheque.<\/p>\n
Here we go then with this week\u2019s edition of the Fantasy Waiver Wire.<\/p>\n
QB’S<\/strong><\/h3>\nVince Young – Tennessee<\/strong> – Young has done 2 things that Kerry Collins was unable to do this year – WIN. Young threw for 172 yards (unspectacular) and also rushed 5 times – once for a score. Young seems to finally have a grasp about what is going to make him successful – using his feet and his arm to keep Defenses off balance. <\/strong>Young is playing well.<\/p>\nJosh Freeman – Tampa Bay <\/strong>– Looked very good in his 1st<\/sup> career start against a very good Green Bay team. Freeman threw for 3 touchdowns guiding the Bucs to their 1st<\/sup> win of the season. Maybe things are looking up in Tampa.<\/p>\nRB’S<\/strong><\/h3>\nLadell Betts – Washington<\/strong> – Look folks – Clinton Portis is not gonna stay healthy – there\u2019s no way in Hell. Enter Ladell Betts, who has been on the Fantasy radar for quite some time. The \u201ccareer handcuff\u201d will get his chance this season, and if Week 9’s performance is any indication of what he\u2019s capable of, he\u2019ll be alright.<\/p>\nBeanie Wells – Arizona<\/strong> – The Cardinals coaching staff is really trying to get Wells going with the hopes of him taking over as the feature Back in Arizona. In Week 9, he had 13 touches and looked impressive. As long as the coaching staff has confidence in Wells, The Fantasy World should have confidence too.<\/p>\nJamaal Charles or Kolby Smith – Kansas City<\/strong> – The Larry Johnson era in KC is officially OVER! One of these Running Backs has a great chance to take over the reigns and be Fantasy Football\u2019s next Super Stud. The frontrunner seems to be Kolby Smith right now, but your guess is as good as mine. Smith was highly touted and was to be the heir apparent to Johnson – this before landing on Injured Reserve. He has great upside and will undoubtedly be a Hot name on the Wire this week. Charles is almost equally as attractive. Not sure who you should pick up, but choose the right one, and you could have a little Fantasy Goldmine.<\/p>\nWR’S<\/strong><\/h3>\nChris Chambers – Kansas City <\/strong>– Chambers is alive folks and he certainly made some noise with his new team this past week. 70 yards and 2 touchdowns put him in the top tier of Week 9 wide receivers. Hard to believe I know, but because of his talent and experience, he\u2019s impossible to ignore. Add Chambers and watch his stock continue to climb.<\/p>\nRobert Meachem – New Orleans<\/strong> – Another New Orleans flavor of the Week, Meachem took full advantage of Lance Moore\u2019s injury and Marques Colston\u2019s bad game. 5 catches, 98 yards and a td. means that Robert has Drew Brees\u2019 attention!! A true recipe for success<\/p>\nJacoby Jones – Houston<\/strong> – Could be the one that sucks up all of the catches that Owen Daniels vacated with his season ending injury. Someone in Houston has to and with Schuab throwing for almost 300 yards consistently, Jones has a chance to make a splash,<\/p>\nDavone Bess – Miami – <\/strong>No less that 3 catches in any game this year!. Bess was actually targeted 14 times win Week 9! 14! He caught 6 of those balls for 56 yards. Week 9’s 4 catches, 50 yards and 2 tds. is evidence that Hill should be a useful #3 or 4 Receiver on all Fantasy teams.<\/strong><\/p>\nOthers to Monitor<\/strong> – Andre Caldwell – Cincinnati : Greg Camarillo – Miami : Earl Bennett – Chicago : Lance Long – Kansas City : Bryant Johnson – Detroit<\/p>\nTE’S<\/strong><\/h3>\nBen Watson – New England<\/strong> – Has been in the New England system for years now, and has produced some good Fantasy stats in the past. Week 9’s 4 catches for 49 yards puts Watson back on the Fantasy Radar.<\/p>\nBrandon Pettigrew – Detroit<\/strong> – Pettigrew was a sleeper in the preseason and is now realizing his Fantasy potential. 7 catches for 70 yards and a touchdown on Sunday – crazy numbers for someone most have never heard of. Matthew Stafford has heard of him – that\u2019s all that counts.<\/p>\nOthers to Monitor – <\/strong>Joey Haynos – Miami : Gary Barnidge – Carolina<\/p>\nDEFENSE<\/strong><\/h3>\nCincinnati<\/strong> – Tough game next week against the Steelers but after that – Oakland, Cleveland and Detroit!! Yummy!!<\/p>\nDallas<\/strong> – This team is finally staring to gel Defensively – after Green Bay next weeks, the Cowboys play Washington an Oakland. You could certainly do worse than a unit that shut the Eagles down.
