Time:<\/strong> Sunday 4:15 ET Seattle has owned the division for most of the decade, but the Seahawks\u2019 dominance has waned in direct proportion to the failing health of starting QB Matt Hasselbeck. Keeping Hasselbeck on his feet this Sunday will be Job 1 for the Seahawks when they take on Arizona in an important division game.<\/p>\n Make no mistake. Hasselbeck is the man in Seattle. Or at least he is when he\u2019s capable of walking from the huddle to the line of scrimmage. The veteran has had back injuries, leg injuries, finger injuries and head injuries, and may or may not be 100 percent this Sunday as he continues recovery from a fractured rib suffered in the San Francisco game. That forced him out of the lineup for two games (both losses); he returned last week and threw four TD passes in a 41-0 win over Jacksonville.<\/p>\n No one has to tell the Cardinals defense that Hasselbeck is a less-effective passer when he is prone rather than upright. They just have to look at video of the games in which Hasselbeck has burned them this decade. The Arizona defense has had some past success getting to Hasselbeck, as he has fumbled eight times in 14 games vs. the Cards; problem is, Zona managed to recover only two of them. And the Cardinals have now gone two full games without a sack. The Cardinals have issues of their own, centered mostly around the fact that they have played horribly at home. They clearly weren\u2019t ready for the opener (loss to San Francisco), got pounded by Indianapolis, were balls-to-the-wall needing a goal line stand to hold off a mediocre Texan team, and still haven\u2019t figured out a way to run the ball.<\/p>\n Arizona spent its first-round draft choice on RB Beanie Wells, but he\u2019s been just another guy and the running game has sputtered. Part of it is philosophical (the Cards have been able to win by just flinging the ball) and part of it is coaching. Whatever the reason, Ken Whisenhunt and Kurt Warner always seem to want to eat dessert and leave the vegetables on the plate.<\/p>\n San Francisco\u2019s uninspiring performance in a loss to Atlanta last week has opened the door again in the West, where the Niners, Cards and Seahawks are expected to battle to the wire. The Rams have no chance of beating any of the other three, so the remaining six division games take on added importance. The 49ers are already 3-0 in the division.<\/p>\n A peek at the schedules underscores the importance of this game for both the Cardinals and the Seahawks. Both begin stretches that will keep them in airplanes for the near future.
