2008 Record: 8-8 Even after acquiring arguably the best defensive player if all of football last year, not many people are buying into the Washington Redskins.<\/p>\n Interestingly enough, Albert Haynesworth could be the last missing piece on the Redskins defense to take them from being fairly good to being dominant. They have edge rushers, they have a solid linebacking corps and an above average secondary.<\/p>\n But at the same time, Haynesworth has a track record of being lazy when he\u2019s not in a contract year and the Redskins have a tendency to overpay for a whole lot of nothing in free agency. See: Antwan Randel El. On offense, the Redskins are also close as they have a good young quarterback, a competent offensive line and a very good running game. But are the young wide receivers ready?<\/p>\n The Redskins spent three first round picks on receiving threats in wideouts Devin Thomas, Malcom Kelly and tight end Fred Davis. If all three grow into contributors this year, combined with Santana Moss on the outside, this offense could flourish. But that might be asking a lot from a trio that combined for 21 catches last year.<\/p>\n Without a serious receiving threat, the Redskins offense is just too vanilla. They are good, they can work over some of the weaker defenses, but when an elite team shuts down their running game, they simply don\u2019t have any answers.<\/p>\n If Haynesworth is the answer and the young offensives pieces grow up, this could really be a surprise team in the NFL.
