2008 Record:<\/strong> 11-5 The Miami Dolphins were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL in 2008 and while many people expect them to fall flat on their face, don\u2019t be surprised if this team is still very competitive. They are deeper, healthier and have gained experience and confidence. <\/p>\n The lone problem? The Dolphins have the toughest schedule in the NFL.<\/p>\n Starting with the nuts and bolts, the Dolphins do have a better roster than last year. On offense, running back Ronnie Brown looks as fast as he\u2019s ever looked while wideouts Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Armstrong have vastly improved his route-running. With the emergence of Greg Camarillo and Davon Bess last year, and a couple more draft picks in Patrick Turner and Brian Hartline, the Dolphins might have enough weapons to get the job done with any Wild cat trickery. The foundation is in place as the Dolphins have one of the best offensive lines in the business. The team was also quick to scoop up safety Gibril Wilson, who was a cap casualty by the Oakland Raiders but will be a big addition next to Yeremiah Bell. As a whole, the Dolphins did a great job of keeping their young core intact, pinpointing weaknesses in the draft and free agency and building on the foundation. Their schedule has plenty of hurdles, such as an opener in Atlanta, followed by a visit from Indianapolis, then a trip to San Diego, and a visit from rivals Buffalo and the Jets.<\/p>\n After a visit from New Orleans, the Dolphins have four road games in five weeks where they travel to the Jets, to New England, to Carolina and to Buffalo. \nOn defense, the Dolphins brought back Jason Taylor, which should detract some attention away from 17.5 sack man Joey Porter. In the secondary, the Dolphins spent their top two draft picks on defensive backs Vontae Davis, who looks like he might start from the jump, and Sean Smith, who is an underrated prospect out of Utah.<\/p>\n
\nThe secondary was a real issue for this defense last year but with two new draft picks and the free agent additions of Wilson and Eric Green, this could be a vastly improved unit.<\/p>\n
\nThis is a smart, disciplined team who is slowly climbing the ranks in the NFL. While they weren\u2019t as good as their 11 wins indicated last year, they won\u2019t be as bad as their low win total indicates this year.<\/p>\n
