It’s no secret that with the NFL betting odds posted in most sportsbooks<\/strong><\/a>, that football season is rapidly approaching. Put aside the Super Bowl odds<\/a> and leave the sports betting, let’s take a look at the top fantasy tight ends of 2009-10:<\/p>\n 1. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys<\/strong><\/p>\n While Tony Gonzalez will be a popular pick now that he’s playing with a real quarterback in Atlanta, it’s better to go with the tried, tested and true, which is Jason Witten. With no Terrell Owens around, the Cowboys should make him more of the focal point of the offense.<\/p>\n 2. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons<\/strong><\/p>\n Gonzalez put up ridiculous numbers in a shoddy offense over the last few seasons, what is he capable of with real weapons to detract attention?<\/p>\n 3. Dallas Clark, Indianapolis Colts<\/strong><\/p>\n Clark is consistently money in the bank for the Colts and with no more Marvin Harrison, he should take a more significant role.<\/p>\n 4. Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers <\/strong><\/p>\n Can he get past his injuries and return to form as an elite tight end in the NFL? If so, he’s good value as the fourth-drafted tight end.<\/p>\n 5. Owen Daniels, Houston Texans Owen Daniels is a real sleeper and so are the Texans. They could have a very explosive offense this year and with a weak defense to pair, they could be in a lot of shootouts.<\/p>\n 6. Chris Cooley, Washington Redskins<\/strong><\/p>\n Chris Cooley is another steady, unspectacular tight end. He’s a No. 1 but his upside is minimal as he climbs in age.<\/p>\n 7. Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears<\/strong><\/p>\n The former Miami Hurricanes standout finally gets a chance to play with a real quarterback. Jay Cutler’s downfield arm could be a real blessing for Olsen but sharing time with Desmond Clark could be a curse.<\/p>\n 8. John Carlson, Seattle Seahawks<\/strong><\/p>\n With Matt Hasselbeck returning, John Carlson could be a real sleeper in this class. The Seahawks love to use their tight ends and I’m betting management<\/a> is expecting a nice growth spurt from Carlson in his second season.<\/p>\n 9. Kellen Winslow Jr., Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/strong><\/p>\n He would be higher on this list but Byron Leftwich or Josh Freeman will be his quarterback.<\/p>\n 10. Jeremy Shockey, New Orleans Saints<\/strong><\/p>\n The upside is still there but his production has been astonishingly poor since heading to New Orleans.<\/p>\n 11. Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers
