CONTENDERS<\/strong><\/p>\n Zach Johnson<\/strong><\/p>\n PGA odds: +2000<\/p>\n For anyone wanting to play it safe at the sportsbook this week, it can’t hurt to pick the hot hand. Johnson has two wins and another top-three this season and won his last start, the Texas Open. We all know Johnson is a popgun off the tee, but that’s just fine for him this week, as Colonial is a short, narrow course that favors ball strikers over big hitters. His consistent accuracy makes him a real contender this week.<\/p>\n Kenny Perry<\/strong><\/p>\n PGA odds: +2000<\/p>\n It’s almost a coin flip between Perry and Johnson – at first glance. Perry, a two-time winner at Colonial, is long renowned for his great ball striking, so Colonial obviously plays to his strengths. Be careful, though; Perry hasn’t looked the same since choking at the Masters, following up that tourney with a 59th<\/sup> and disappointing 22nd<\/sup> at Sawgrass, which should’ve catered to his game. With rumors that he cheated in a tournament win also following him around, Perry may be distracted this week. He’s a high-risk, high-gain play.<\/p>\n SOLID PICKS<\/strong><\/p>\n Paul Casey<\/strong> PGA odds: +1600<\/p>\n Why would Casey, a man making his Colonial debut, have better PGA odds than the two vets listed above? The name of the game is accuracy this week and Casey cracks the top 25 in greens in regulation and putting average this golf betting season. He’s also been one of the most consistent golfers on tour, with five top-20s in six starts.<\/p>\n Jim Furyk<\/strong><\/p>\n PGA odds: +1600<\/p>\n Watch out for Furyk this week – and by that I mean don’t <\/em>bet on him. Furyk has three top-10s this season and finished second at Colonial in 2007, but he missed the cut there last year. He’s too unpredictable to endorse this week and he offers relatively bad value at +1600.<\/p>\n THE SLEEPER<\/strong><\/p>\n Tim Clark<\/strong><\/p>\n PGA odds: +3300<\/p>\n Here’s a nice value pick at your US friendly sportsbook. Clark isn’t flashy but he has the type of pinpoint control golfers need to win at Colonial. He ranks in the PGA’s top 10 in driving accuracy and proximity to hole and has four straight top-25s at this event.
