With one of the better starting staffs in the league they were supposed to contend for the playoffs.<\/p>\n The staff has mostly performed but the every day lineup has been atrocious.<\/p>\n Michael Brantley has been solid the whole way though but the likes of Carlos Santana, Yan Gomes, Lonnie Chisenhall and the departed Michael Bourn have been terrible for most of the year. That is half the lineup so it is no surprise this group has struggled with consistency.<\/p>\n In his first full season Danny Salazar has proven he is among the better young pitchers in the league<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]<\/p>\n He is currently leading the team in ERA and like the other members of the staff is tough to hit with an ability to miss bats at a high rate.<\/p>\n This is the most he has pitched at this level and he was scratched from his last start so tread carefully with him tonight and the rest of the season.<\/p>\n The Jays continued to pound opponents over the weekend, sweeping the Tigers relatively easily and maintaining their lead over the Yankees in the AL East. When this team is going they are almost impossible to contain.<\/p>\n Cleveland will attempt to quiet this lineup which is a monster, leading the Majors with an average of 5.52 runs per game. Not only do they give their pitchers a lot of support but they are essentially never out of a ballgame either the way they can put up runs in bunches.<\/p>\n Edwin Encarnacion has been absolute smoking this month. Heading into the final day of the month he is batting .402 with 11 homers in August – 35 RBIs.<\/p>\n They might not be able to sign him in the offseason but the Jays are getting great value from David Price so far.<\/p>\n He has a 4-0 record with an ERA of 1.98 with the Jays and gives this team a true ace with his ability to battle, work deep into ballgames and be dominant 41\/7 strikeout to walk ratio.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63745&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]<\/p>\n The only problem with Price is that he is killing all value for bettors. When you take an elite pitcher and pair him with the best offense in the Majors it is hard to make a case to bet against (the team is 4-1 in his starts overall).
