This matchup in the regular season would be something to get excited about. As a first preseason game for both teams not so much.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh<\/h3>\n

Green Bay is entering the season among the favourites in the NFC. The have amazing continuity on offense and a defense that is good enough. The key for them is getting through the preseason intact so they can make a go at home field advantage in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

Like New England this is a well managed group that knows what preseason football is for.<\/p>\n

One player we might get to see some of this week is rookie QB Brett Hundley. His draft stock might have fallen but he is a great athlete and the Packers have no reason to rush him thanks to the brilliance of Aaron Rodgers. \u00a0If he plays well maybe he can be the backup this season.<\/p>\n

This franchise seems to know a thing or two about developing quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

Were this a regular season game the over would be a strong possibility but maybe even look under here. Perhaps the oddsmakers might not be discounting enough what it will mean to have scrubs playing most of the game.<\/p>\n

New England<\/h3>\n

This is the first game of what is going to be a pretty tedious preseason thanks to DeflateGate. Under the best of circumstances I believe the Patriots see these games as a chore but this year they are likely a bit more pleasant of a distraction.<\/p>\n

One thing the scandal is taking away from is that New England is not as god as they were a year ago. Maybe that is why Brady is fighting the suspension so hard, he know any time lost will be hard to make up.<\/p>\n

If this were a regular season game the Pats would be a terrible matchup for the Packers because they have lost a ton of experience in the secondary. Until they prove it is not a liability I will not be convinced.<\/p>\n

On offense they should be OK once they put all the players they want to on the field. Brady to Gronk is as lethal a combo as any other in the league but we won’t see much of it tonight.<\/p>\n
