The game will televised internationally on ESPN HD as well as heard on ESPN Radio and 1200 WOAI-AM. The game will feature the (25) Missouri Tigers (9-4) vs. (22) Northwestern Wildcats (9-3). Missouri has won two of the last three meetings between these two clubs.

The Independence Bowl can trace its roots back to 1975 when the board of directors of the Shreveport-Bossier City Sports Foundation conceived the idea of bringing a postseason football game to northwest Louisiana. Applying to the National Collegiate Athletic Association for certification, the group’s efforts were rewarded with the approval of a December 13, 1976 game.

2008 Motor City Bowl

The Motor City Bowl ihas been played annually since 1997. The first five games (1997–2001) were played at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. However, starting in 2002, the game was moved to 65,000-seat Ford Field in downtown Detroit, Michigan. The Motor City Bowl features a bowl-eligible team from the Mid-American Conference playing a bowl-eligible team from the Big Ten Conference.
