The Trojans, who, if they can best Middle Tennessee have a great shot at being three-peat champs in the Sun Belt Conference, should be able to defeat their MAC opponent in the opening game of the season. The only element of Bowling Green’s attack the Trojans must be concerned about containing is senior RB Willie Geter. 
The Falcons tailback has the capability top 1,000 yards and double-digit TDs this season.
For Troy’s part, its offense will be led by new starting QB Jamie Hampton, but he has plenty of veteran help to nurse him along. Look for senior WR Jerrel Jernigan to be active in the game and throughout the season, along with the running duo of DuJuan Harris and Shawn Southward.
Along with a veteran O-line led by senior C Tyler Clark, these elements provide security for the junior pivot Hampton, who actually won the starting job once already, in 2007.
Troy’s annually athletic defense shouldn’t have trouble stymieing BGSU’s inexperienced passing attack and will be able to key in on Geter.
However, shutting down the Falcons’ aerial attack might be a relative term – BGSU has a penchant for good quarterbacks and prolific chucking. Yet, the Falcons lost a large amount in the off-season due to graduation, including explosive QB Tyler Sheehan.
Head coach Dave Clawson is also making the switch to more of a West Coast-style attack. This will probably lead to a drop in the passing, especially with Trojans sophomore CB Bryan Willis on the field, who gobbled up four INTs as a freshman in ’09.
There should be some points up on the board, but regardless it should indeed be a wake-up call in Alabama for the visitors this weekend.

One of the first week’s marquee match-ups takes place Saturday night in the House that [Jerry] Jones Built. Texas Christian, one of the top BCS busters in 2010, locks horns with a solid Pac-10 program in a game that will be a litmus test for both squads.
Jacquizz and James Rodgers, brothers and Oregon State’s two most important players, are returning to their home state of Texas and doubtlessly will be amped up for this game. They will need to be ultra-explosive, because TCU is in great stead on both sides of the ball.
The Frogs should be well-prepared for what is essentially a home game for them (the Frogs are in nearby Fort Worth).
Veteran Frogs pivot Andy Dalton is ready to lead TCU to a memorable season and head coach Gary Patterson always has his men up for the big games. This is a game versus a BCS opponent on one of the biggest stages, just miles from home.
When the Beavers get either of the Rodgers brothers in space, they can put points on the board in a hurry.
The Frogs D must worry itself about limiting the damage these two players inflict. If these two guys can even be slowed, TCU has the horses elsewhere on the roster to finish the job. Though both of these offenses have the ability to strike quickly, this is the type of game where you might see more of a battle of attrition than you might think.
In the remote possibility this game came right down to the wire, both teams are well equipped with talented, veteran kickers and both can get a stranglehold in the field position game with thunder-footed punters.
More than likely, however, the Frogs showcase their talent on defense and slow Oregon State enough to let Dalton and his strong receiver corps pull away.
Patterson has been trumpeting for years that his program never gets the credit it deserves – it doesn’t seem right that they would be derailed in the season’s opening game in front of tens of thousands of (mostly) supportive fans.
