2009 NCAA Tournament National Championship Game

These two teams met earlier in the year at Ford Field. North Carolina dominated the game and won 98-63. Michigan State did not have the services on Goran Suton. Michigan State is not even close to the same team now as they were in December. In the earlier matchup the lone bright spot for MSU was Raymar Morgon which had 21 points on 8-14 shooting.
2009 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship Prediction
Way back on March 15th when the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament brackets were first unveiled, I would think that most people, myself included penciled in or mouse clicked the name North Carolina all the way to the final. My question is how many people out there had the mental fortitude to do the same with the name, Michigan State? My guess is not nearly as many, myself included.

2009 NCAA Tournament Final Four Action

Michigan State has won ATS in all 4 tournament games this year. They have played great defense allowing only 61.3 points per contest. However, they haven’t shot over 50% from the field in any of their 4 games.
After a slow start to the season Michigan State has come on and might be the hottest team in the Final Four. That being said experts are still not giving the Spartans much respect as they are the longest shot on the board at 5-1. The good news for Michigan State fans is this teams loves the underdog roll and flourishes when everyone tells them they can’t win.
After starting with a field of 65 of the best college teams in the nation and four rounds of games, we are down to four teams that have survived the challenge. Each team has shown they deserve to be here and now have the chance to play one more game to earn a shot at playing for the 2009 National Championship.
Not many people had UCONN winning it all after they lost key guard Jerome Dyson. Don’t look now they have not only recovered from his injury but are playing there best basketball of the season. Coach Calhoun is one of the best coaches at taking adversity and turning it into motivation. If one thing you can say about the UCONN program is they are fighters and they don’t go down easy.
The Betting Numbers
This game opened at LVSC with Baylor -3 and the total set at 136. It would not be surprising to see this line come down as Penn St. is once again likely to have the majority of fan support at the Garden. Surprisingly, Baylor is favored by more points in the NIT championship game than it was favored by in the semifinal game while Penn St. is getting fewer points this time around which does in fact make sense.
North Carolina Tar Heels have all the pressure on them as the odds on favorite to win it all. This is the third year in a row that they have been the favorite for almost the entire season. Last year this UNC team fell short of winning the Championship losing to the eventual champion in the semifinal game. Coach Roy Williams and this experienced team have had a one track mind all year all focusing on winning the Championship in 2009. Now the Tar Heels are only two games away from realizing all their goals.
Villanova has had everyone tell them all year what they could not do but they have proven time after time they are worthy of this Final Four berth. The lesser known of the two Big East Final Four attendee’s, Villanova coached by Jay Wright will be ready for UNC come Saturday! You can bet that everybody will be rooting for the underdog Wildcats and it might feel like a home game by the end of the night.

It’s hard not to like the Michigan State Spartans’ chances as they will enjoy home-court advantage playing at Ford Field in Detroit, where they’ll face the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday (6:07 pm ET, CBS).
