The Nationals (27-28) are known for their wealth of talented pitching. Some hurlers are helping DC hang around the NL East divisional race – but it’s not the pitchers you might think.

This interleague match-up features a punchless offense (the visiting Padres) doing battle with an offense that’s been downright Mike Tyson-esque so far this season. It will be interesting to see if anything bucks the trend on Friday night.
The Rangers have to like their chances on Tuesday night as strikeout ringleader Yu Darvish takes the bump versus the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota’s starter Phil Hughes has also been hot lately, but Darvish has been an American League candidate for the Cy Young Trophy for the past few seasons now.
The Dodgers are still riding the euphoric wave of veteran pitcher Josh Beckett’s no-hitter against the Phillies last night; they’ll hope to keep that good California karma going against the visiting Reds on Monday night.
Reds pitcher Homer Bailey hit the big bucks this offseason with a contract extension; he’ll be out to stymie the Redbirds when St. Louis comes to town on Friday night.
These two ballclubs sit with virtually identical records – both hovering around .500 – but the O’s are currently at the top of the American League East division in what has been a weird year thus far for the perennial powerhouse… all the usually sound teams seemingly can’t stop losing.
The Colts won’t be very active in the 2014 NFL Draft, as they possess a league-low five picks. Their first selection isn’t until late in the second round and they will have to hunt and peck to find players that can make a contribution on the roster.
Draft Preview
In a passing-driven league, the Titans will be looking to shore up their secondary, and have to at least be considering quarterback, given the mixed results of Jake Locker thus far.
2014 Draft Preview
Eagles head coach Chip Kelly proved how successful his turbo-charged offensive strategy can be at the highest level of football. There were plenty of skeptics, but the hurry-up, no-huddle offense turned out to be quite prolific.
2014 Draft Preview
The Jags could be slated to bring in a nice haul from the 2014 NFL Draft, with their 10 picks. To be frank, this is a franchise that needs it badly.
2014 Draft Preview
The Houston Texans were a hot mess last year, but they are reaping the benefits come 2014 Draft Day. Houston’s 11 picks is the most it has possessed since 2002, when the Texans selected a dozen players.
The Minnesota Wild impressed a lot of people (author included) with their resilient series victory against a youthful, high-octane Colorado team. Can they keep any magic going against conference standout Chicago, or will the underdog party come to an end in Round 2?
Due to a steady deluge of rain in the Great Lakes area (the Tigers have had three rainouts already this year) stud hurler Justin Verlander has been pushed back to Tuesday and will face the White Sox in the south side of Chicago. Having Verlander take the bump is always good news for Detroit.
The Diamondbacks (8-19) have been miserable to start the 2014 campaign, with lousy pitching and inconsistent offense being the formula for sitting at the bottom of the National League West division. The Snakes hope to start the job of turning it around at home against the Rockies (13-12) on Monday night.
Suspicions at the beginning of this series turned out to be true – Minnesota acquisition Ilya Bryzgalov has made a goat of himself in net. Backup goalie Darcy Kuemper has given admirable effort in relief, but he isn’t a front-line starter.
However, Colorado’s advantage in this rather up-and-down series can be boiled down to one young phenom: Nathan MacKinnon.
The media have been swirling like a pack of hungry sharks around the offensive discord of the Oklahoma City Thunder in this series. Is Russell Westbrook dissatisfied sharing the limelight with Kevin Durant? Is he too “me-first”? Has head coach Scott Brooks lost all conceptions of offensive game-planning?
