This is a chance to take advantage of an Orioles team yet to find its way this season.

Baltimore

This weekend was typical of the Orioles season to date. They took the opener in their series against Tampa but couldn’t sustain, dropping games on Saturday and Sunday.

It certainly did not help that Adam Jones was out of the lineup (he is questionable for Monday) and this club is waiting for other key cogs to get healthy as well.

The offense has been middling but Chris Davis might be heating up – he has 4 of his 12 homers in the last six games.

They need him.

Surprisingly Ubaldo Jimenez has been the Orioles best starting pitcher this season.

He has always been tough to hit and could strike people out but he is managing his walks a lot better this season, leading the team in ERA as a result.

Even with that success though he is not working deep into game, averaging less than 6IP per start. That taxes a bullpen which has been inconsistent.

Houston

The Astros still have a nice cushion but they have stumbled a bit of late.

They dropped their weekend series to the White Sox over the weekend and have won only 4 of their last 10. Their all or nothing approach at the plate has yielded the most home runs in the Majors but they are only 11th in runs scored.

The pitching has been fantastic but I worry that the starters will not be able to maintain their impressive performances to date. The bullpen is definitely improved but I am not sure it is going to be enough.

We will see.

Brett Oberholzer has not seen much action this season.

He pitched just three innings in a start a few weeks ago but blisters forced him from the game and this will be just his second start of the year.

Over the course of a couple of partial seasons he has proven to be nothing special.

He lets batters get their bat on the ball and they hit him at a pretty good clip. He is going to need offensive support to win.

MLB Betting Trends:

  • BAL are 2-11 in their last 13 road games.
  • BAL are 4-12 in their last 16 games as an underdog.
  • Under is 6-2 in BAL last 8 Mon. games.
  • Under is 6-1-1 in HOU last 8 games as a favorite.
  • HOU are 8-3 in their last 11 home games.
  • Under is 7-3 in HOU last 10 Mon. games.
  • Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

MLB Betting Prediction:  Over 8

The Astros can get a win to start the series but I am more interested in the total.

MLB Score Prediction:  Houston 6 – Baltimore 5

Jimenez is unreliable and Oberholzer might not even make it past a turn through the order.
