The key in this game is the Longhorns’ 10th ranked rushing defense facing KSU and their 22nd ranked rushing offense. NCAAF lines have Texas as 8.5-point favorites with a total of 53.5.
In their last games Kansas State needed 4 overtimes to beat Texas A&M 53-50 while Texas struggled on offense, big time, in a 17-5 loss to Missouri.
Last week in the win over Texas A&M duel-threat Wildcats’ QB passed for a career high 281 yards and he also rushed for 103 yards. He and RB John Hubert (781 yards 2 TD) are THE guys that the Texas defense has to focus on stopping, as the Longhorns will be in big trouble if these guys rush for a ton of yards.
Klein has a decent WR corps and after last week’s solid passing game and add the fact Texas ranks 48th in the nation in pass defense the Wildcats may go to the air more in this game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Not really sure why the Longhorns are favored here, as they lost badly last season at Kansas State and their rushing offense is a big question mark. The reason Texas won 2 straight before falling to Mizzou was they were able to run the ball. However, Fozzy Whittaker tore his knee up in the Missouri game and is out for the season and leading rusher Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron are both questionable for this game.
Kansas State has a solid run defense (ranked 25th in the nation) while the same cannot be said about their pass defense, which ranks 117th in the nation out of 120 FBS teams.
David Ash is the probable starter for UT and he and Case McCoy may have to take up the slack on offense with the running game a big question mark. The Longhorns will also be without leading WR Jaxon Shipley, who has an injured knee.
The Wildcats have beaten the Longhorns 3 straight times.
