Week 2 is almost in the books – what a Sunday it was! There were plenty of Stud performances to choose from, so excuse me if I accidentally omitted one or two.
Here then is Dave B’s Week 2 version of Studs and Duds.
Leave a comment and let me know what you think about the list!
STUDS OF THE WEEK
Matt Schaub – Houston Texans – Insane numbers this week as he led his team back from 17 points down in the 3rd quarter. 497 yards passing and three touchdowns is truly amazing!
Jason Snelling – Atlanta Falcons – Number three running back was called upon in an emergency basis to fill in for two injured Falcon running backs. He delivered 129 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns and caught five balls for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Other Studs:
QBs
Donovan McNabb – Washington Redskins – 426 yards passing and a touchdown in a losing effort. Still, McNabb was in command all game long and was certainly not the reason that Washington lost.
Kyle Orton – Denver Broncos – Orton has been great for two weeks in a row. This week, he did what Alex Smith couldn`t do – shred the Seahawks for 307 yards and two touchdowns.
Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers – 334 yards, three touchdowns and unfortunately two interceptions still has Rivers in the Stud column. As long as Gates is in the game, Rivers has a chance to be here every week.
Honourable Mention: Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears, Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys
RBs
Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings – 28 carries for 145 yards and six catches for 41 yards on a day that the Vikings only scored ten points. He is carrying his team.
Jahvid Best – Detroit Lions – After a dud last week, Best was a Stud this week. 17 carries, 78 yards and two touchdowns with nine catches for 154 yards and a touchdown is a terrific showing for the rookie.
LeSean McCoy – Philadelphia Eagles – 30 carries for 145 yards in Week 2 put to rest the notion that McCoy is not ready for prime time.
Honourable Mention: Darren McFadden – Oakland Raiders
WRs
Andre Johnson – Houston Texans – 12 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown almost had him as Stud of the Week. He is quite a player isn`t he
Miles Austin – Dallas Cowboys
DeSean Jackson – Philadelphia Eagles
Honourable Mention: Kevin Walter – Houston Texans, Dustin Keller – NY Jets, Mike Sims-Walker – Jacksonville Jaguars, Reggie Wayne – Indianapolis Colts?
Duds of the Week:
Chris Johnson – Tennessee Titans – His string of 12 straight 100+ yard rushing games in a row came crashing to a halt. 34 yards rushing and 19 yards receiving is truly disappointing for the consensus #1 Fantasy pick.
Devin Aroshamadu – Chicago Bears – Zero, Zilch, Nada – after a promising week, many started you this week – BRUTAL!
Other Duds:
QBs
Brett Favre – Minnesota Vikings – Three interceptions and a fumble, all seemingly at critical times in the game make Favre a total Dud. The Vikes are 0-2, thanks largely to Mr. Favre.
Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens – In an important divisional game, Flacco went 19 for 39 for 154 yards, one touchdown and four huge interceptions – Ungood!
Carson Palmer – Cincinnati Bengals – Palmer has two premier weapons to throw to. On Sunday, he delivered 167 yards on 16 of 35 passing.
Honourable Mention: Trent Edwards – Buffalo Bills, Eli Manning – NY Giants
RBs
Maurice Jones-Drew – Jacksonville Jaguars – Ugh! MJD was nearly Dud of the Week! 12 carries for 31 yards and one catch for 17 yards speak for itself.
Cowboys RBs – This team is in trouble and until they get some consistency they will continue to struggle. Three running backs combined for 19 rushes for 36 yards in Week 2 – awful!
Patriots RBs – The Pats RBs were nearly as bad. I know the Jets are a good defense but 20 carries for 53 yards is unacceptable.
WRs
Greg Jennings – Green Bay Packers – Green Bay scored 34 points and played without Ryan Grant. Jennings must have been huge right? Wrong – three catches for 33 yards was all he could muster.
Anquan Boldin – Baltimore Ravens – Last week, Boldin had a good game against Darrelle Revis. This week against Cincinnati, Boldin had five catches for 35 yards.
Chad Ochocinco – Cincinnati Bengals – Four catches for 44 yards after creating huge expectations last week. He wasn’t able to exploit the banged up Baltimore secondary.
