Ouch. The Senators must feel like Rodney Dangerfield right now. They’ve won 10 straight games and are still sportsbook underdogs in their own building tonight. The Canucks were outstanding in January, closing with seven straight wins, so I can understand to an extent why they’re favored tonight. The Sedin twins have never been better and Alex Burrows has been an outstanding fit on the top line; Burrows scored 15 goals in 13 January games.
But I still don’t know if the Canucks can stop Ottawa tonight, especially since they’re playing a third straight game in Eastern Canada during their unbelievable 14-game road trip. The Sens are getting contributions from anyone and everyone – Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and even the surprising Brian Elliott in goal.
The Canucks’ offense has been outstanding but Ottawa has allowed an itty-bitty 12 goals during its 10-game streak; the Sens held Pittsburgh and Chicago to a goal each over that streak, so it’s not like the Sens are just preying on the offensively challenged. I like them to catch Vancouver napping tonight.
